Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice 2 Becomes a Hotspot For High-End Heists as Famous Prop Sculptures Reported Stolen From Winona Ryder Movie Set
Beetlejuice was a huge success in 1988, as big names like Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Alec Baldwin joined hands to deliver the horror comedy revolving around a tussle between the dead and the living.
Tim Burton’s movie proved to be a huge success, as fans really liked Keaton’s role of bio-exorcist Betelgeuse who is roped in by deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland to scare away the unbearable couple and their daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) from their family home.
Made at a budget of just $15 million, Beetlejuice grossed $74.7 million globally, giving the producers enough ammunition to take another shot more than three decades later.

What Is Happening on the Sets of Winona Ryder’s Beetlejuice 2
Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder have returned to reprise their respective roles in Beetlejuice, which is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2024.
The movie is still in the production phase and the sets are certainly a hotspot for big-name actors in grubby make-ups attempting to look like ghosts. Seems like it has also become a hotspot for high-end heists.
Beetlejuice can certainly be considered a classic in its genre and its sequel is accordingly attracting a lot of eyeballs. The issue with attracting so much spotlight is that everything linked with such a project becomes of value in different ways.
Beetlejuice 2 producers are now paying the price of the popularity, as according to the Vermont State Police and news outlet Caledonian Record, a giant sculpture – which was supposed to be used in the movie – has been stolen. The 150-pound sculpture purportedly disappeared in July from one of the locations of the filming.
A lamppost with a pumpkin-shaped top went AWOL around the same time. It’s understood the swiped sculpture was seen in the original Beetlejuice.
Before Keaton’s Betelgeuse spirit is tasked with shooing away another family, the decision-makers should find a way to put an end to these heists.
What Is Winona Ryder’s Role in Beetlejuice 2
Like a typical horror flick, there’s a lot of hush-hush surrounding the plot of Beetlejuice. However, it seems the story is set to revolve around Ryder’s Lydia Deetz character, who finds herself amid danger in the first part because of the rambunctious Betelgeuse spirit.
Lydia will also have a kid in the sequel. Wednesday star Jenna Ortega will play the role of her daughter. In July, Ryder and Ortega were spotted filming a supposed wedding scene in Hertfordshire, England.
As per PEOPLE, the 51-year-old was dressed in her goth character’s signature black and after 35 years Lydia appeared to still rock her trademark spikey bangs hairstyle.
Moreover, Catherine O’Hara, who played Lydia’s mother in Beetlejuice and did plenty to annoy the Maitlands, will also feature in the sequel.
