American singer Cher’s mother and retired singer, Georgia Holt, has been having recurring health issues. Earlier in September, the 76-year-old singer shared on Twitter that she made her mother go to a doctor. When she went to see a doctor, the doctor sent her to the hospital. She also shared that her mother was hospitalized due to pneumonia. She also shared that she was out of medical care and was getting better. However, two months after, the singer allegedly confirmed that her mother, Georgia Holt, has passed away at the age of 96. Cher shared the news via a brief post on Twitter.
Cher Appears to Confirm Her Mother’s Passing
Cher seemingly confirmed that her mother and the singer and actor, Georgia Holt, passed away at the age of 96. The American singer shared a post on Twitter saying, “Mom is gone”,” with a sad face emoji. Holt has been facing several health issues for some time and was hospitalized in September due to pneumonia.
“Sorry I’ve been MIA. Mom’s been sick off and on. She just got out of [hospital]. She had pneumonia. She’s getting better,” Cher shared in September. The singer received good wishes from her fans and also thanked them for praying for her mother.
She also shared that home is the best remedy for her mother and that she is getting better slowly. The singer paid tribute to her mother in a documentary she executive produced called Dear Mom, Love Cher.
The documentary included Georgia Holt’s childhood in Arkansas, her marriages, and her acting and singing career in Los Angeles. The documentary also revealed how Holt almost went through an abortion when she was pregnant with Cher. After her husband left, Holt’s mother advised her to get rid of the child.
