Created by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord, the highly awaited Daredevil: Born Again is a revival and continuation of Daredevil, which premiered from 2015 to 2018 on Netflix. The series stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and more, and is the thirteenth television series in the MCU.
Reportedly, the first season is going to have 18 episodes, which are split into 9-episode seasons. Ardent fans are excited to witness the magic of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk again on-screen. The studio recently released the first trailer for the upcoming series, and it’s beyond what one could imagine.
Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again first teaser teases intense violence
Marvel Television’s highly awaited superhero show Daredevil: Born Again is all set to release on March 4, 2025. The first teaser for the show dropped a few hours ago, which goes on to show how far Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, will go to exact retribution.
The tagline ‘The Devil’s Work is Never Done’ has been featured again in the new teaser, which sets out on a tone of violence as it largely compromises a fight sequence. A brief shot of actor Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher also appears with a new skull vest. In speaking to Empire Magazine, showrunner Dario Scardapane shared,
The level of violence is way up there for a Marvel/Disney show. I don’t think there’s anything else even in the ballpark. There’s a moment in this that is just absolutely batshit and way past anything Netflix ever did.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin on the show, shared with the publication that the upcoming show is going to be deeper and darker. He added that there is a world in which one might think that if that show is kept running, they can end up in a place that feels peaceful.
Giving the story a spin, the showrunner explained that they didn’t want to do the same boring plotline where Kingpin and Daredevil fight and Kingpin ends up going to jail and the audience already knows he’s coming back. He mentioned,
This dynamic is way too tense. There’s one scene between them in the first episode that lays it all out. Then we spend the next eight episodes throwing rocks at it. Daredevil: Born Again has a lot of action and fight sequences to entertain the audience.
Charlie Cox and D’Onofrio shared with CBM that they had to carefully plan how to bring the two characters into the same room and make it seem like their meeting is an unstoppable force against an immovable object.
They added that they focused on making sure that the two characters’ meeting should feel like things are going to explode.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 production is in the works
Producer Sana Amanat shared on social media that the production for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has already started. Dario Scardapane in his interview with Empire shared (via CBM),
Season 2’s a blast because we’re not shackled by any previously shot footage. We’re swinging for the fences. It’s on par with huge Greek epics, with lots of big themes. Unless you dig really deep into the books, the place where Kingpin and Daredevil wind up at the end of Season 2 is unfathomable, given where they’ve been.
Charlie Cox, who returns as Matt Murdock, shared during an interview with SFX (via Games Radar) that there was a U-turn they took after the strike.
He added that the argument was if they were coming back after all these years, noting that they didn’t want to do the same thing. Cox mentioned,
Marvel looked at the episodes and knew it wasn’t quite working. We shot a whole new pilot and they reorganized what we had filmed to make it feel more like the show we had shot all those years previously. Given what a Herculean task that was, it’s very impressive what they achieved.
The showrunner also noted some changes that they made in the upcoming show compared to the one on Netflix. He mentioned during an interview with SFX Magazine (via Games Radar) that there is more fun in the moments with the characters and a lot less navel-gazing than before.
He added that the earlier show was fantastic but in the upcoming show, the audience will see them do things. The pace of the scenes is also one of the changes they have incorporated.
Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
