Nick Cannon, Father of 12, Reportedly Pays $2.2 Million In Child Support As He Won’t Wear Condoms Despite 3 Failed Relationships
The Masked Singer host, Nick Cannon is quite frank and open to discussing the parental duties he shares with the mothers of his 12 children. He is well-known for having fathered multiple children with various women. In fact, the 42-year-old American television host, actor, rapper, and comedian, is just as famous for his parenting prowess, as he is for his career.
Despite being a multi-millionaire, Cannon has gained notoriety for having a large family, which has led to questions about how he manages to continue having children so frequently.
In 2011, Cannon and his ex-wife, Mariah Carey gave birth to twins, Moroccan and Monroe Scott Cannon. He then welcomed three children with Brittany Bell: a son in September 2020; a daughter and a son, Golden, in 2017. And then, this chain of babies started.
But how much child support does the father of twelve pay? Here is what one legal professional had to say about Cannon’s child support payments.
Nick Cannon’s Child Support Bill
Given that Nick Cannon currently has twelve children, he must be paying a sizable amount in child support. According to last year’s report by legal expert and family law attorney, Goldie Schon, Cannon pays about $2.2 million in child support annually. In February, Schon said to The Sun:
“The courts in California have the right to deviate from the typical child support guidelines when you have somebody like Nick Cannon, who is an extremely high earner.”
The entertainer probably pays the most in child support to Abbey De La Rosa, who already has three children with him. The attorney argued that having a child with De La Rosa again would actually be less expensive for Cannon than having a child with a different partner.
“It’s almost like he’s getting a discount with Abbey having a third child and not having a child with a new woman instead.”
Because Mariah Carey likely earns more than Cannon does, the lawyer was of the view that he is unlikely to pay her child support. In fact, the singer might be paying the father of 12, instead.
Well, it should be noted that Cannon’s child support payments are not made public, so, Schon’s estimates do not represent the exact sum.
His Unconventional Approach To Relationship
Nick Cannon takes an unconventional approach to relationships and parenting, which has piqued the public’s interest. During a guest appearance on The Breakfast Club, he discussed relationships and his individual perspectives on them.
“Just the idea that a man should have one woman, we shouldn’t have anything. I have no ownership over this person. If we’re really talking about how we coexist and how we populate, it’s about what exchange can we create together? I’ve never really subscribed to that mentality.”
During an interview, Cannon was questioned by Dr. Laura Berman about why he doesn’t require all of his s*xual partners to use birth control or use birth control methods himself. The father of twelve gave her the “dangerous territory” warning, but he also gave an explanation:
Any woman that I know that I have unprotected s*x with, there was the potential to have a child. So I feel like if I have unprotected s*x with anyone I know – because one, I value everything about me so much, if I’ve gotten to that point where I say, ‘I can take off this condom,’ I’m gonna say, ‘Then, she could be the mother of my child.’”
Nick Cannon has been making it clear for a while that he intends to listen if “God says” he still needs to have kids.
But now that he has explained how his process works, it’s much clearer how he has managed to accumulate the number of kids and their mothers in his life.
