Nick Carter Goes into War Footing Against Accuser Shannon Ruth With $2.35M, Emulates Johnny Depp After Sexual Abuse Allegations Cost Him His Backstreet Boys Legacy
Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter has clapped at the sexual assault claims made against him. A woman by the name of Shannon Ruth sued him in December 2022 for assaulting her after a concert 21 years ago, when she was a minor. And on Thursday, Carter countersued with defamation claims adding that she cost his band over $2.35 million because of allegedly ‘fake’ accusations. The latest legal documents that have come to light further suggest that Carter believes these allegations to be part of a conspiracy to ruin him.
Nick Carter refutes the sexual battery allegations against him
According to Nick Carter, a father-daughter duo by the name of Jerome and Melissa Schuman are responsible for coaching Shannon Ruth, and it is all part of their plan to extort the 43-year-old singer. He further claimed that they are taking undue advantage of the #MeToo movement.
The I Want It That Way hitmaker claims in his countersuit that Ruth hasn’t stuck to her story thus raising questions about the veracity of her claims. Her initial claim was that someone else abused her, not Carter. She then changed her stance and alleged that she was physically abused by the singer, and finally, she claimed to be sexually assaulted. As per Carter’s claims, the Schumans are the ones “coaxing” Ruth to “inflate” the accusations. The Quit Playing Games singer further indicated how Ruth decided to wait for years before making the allegations. He further claimed that an independent investigation could dig up anything to prove his alleged crime. The civil attorneys Ruth tried using to extort him, apparently left her case because the proofs and facts weren’t supportive of her claims. Also Read: “I don’t think he was portrayed kindly”: Pamela Anderson Showed Kindness to Tommy Lee After ‘Pam & Tommy’ Despite Being Abused for Years
Nick Carter countersued his alleged abuser for conspiring against him
Carter also mentioned that the lawsuit against him cost his boy band dearly as they had to withdraw from endorsement deals and cancel appearances, adding a $2.35 million hole in their pockets.
Another serious allegation against Ruth and the Schumans by Carter is that they manipulated his late brother Aaron Carter. Prior to his untimely demise, the brothers were head-to-head in a way, and Aaron was using as well, thus making him more susceptible to falling for a conspiracy. Carter claims,
“Aaron’s fragile condition and family stresses to cloak their defamatory campaign with credibility, relentlessly and repeatedly using Aaron to try to legitimize their frivolous tales.”
According to Nick Carter, on the day of his brother’s death, Jerome Schuman tweeted:
“I am sad that the chess game we started together was never finished.”
Nick Carter’s alleged victim’s side claims that he has a “long history of abusing females”
Carter’s attorney, Michael Holtz told TMZ,
“As our Counterclaim sets out in detail, Nick has been the target of a malicious and long-running conspiracy. He has never done the outrageous things of which he has been accused; in fact, he is the victim of a calculated and concerted disinformation campaign designed to destroy his reputation… He looks forward to setting out the truth, vindicating himself in court, and putting an end to the smears and attempted shakedowns for good.”
Meanwhile, Ruth’s attorney, Mark Boskovich replied on being approached by TMZ for a statement,
“Why should Nick Carter be believed with his long history of abusing females. A jury will weigh the evidence and decide.”
