In an interview with GQ, Cage said,
“I was having dreams about two-headed eagles. And then the next day, somebody calls me and says, ‘Oh, I have a two-headed snake you might be interested in buying.’ And I’m dreaming about two-headed eagles. And it costs like 80 grand. I said, ‘I’ll do it. Here, I’ll take it.'”
The Ghost Rider star purchased the snake for $80,000 and named him Harvey. The snake with two heads needed special care, like putting a spatula between the two heads so they wouldn’t fight over their food. This level of care seemed too much for the Knowing actor, so he donated Harvey the Snake to the Audubon Zoo, where Harvey lived to the age of 14 and died in 2021.
Before donating the snake, the 59-year-old showed him off to the guests. Director Werner Herzog, who was in attendance, tried to convince Cage to put Harvey in a film. However, Nicolas Cage really cared about Harvey and refused Herzog’s offer to show him off in movies.
