Nina Dobrev Didn’t Want To Marry The Vampire Diaries Co-Star, Thought She’s Young Before Dating Shaun White
Nina Dobrev, well known for her role as Elena Gilbert in the hit TV series The Vampire Diaries brook up with her then-boyfriend and co-star as she didn’t want to marry him. In a recent revelation, news has been around that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s split was because of their age difference and Dobrev’s denial of marriage.
Nina Dobrev Denied Ian Somerhalder’s Marriage Proposal?
Nina Dobrev gained a lot of success from the teen drama The Vampire Diaries, although along with fame Dobrev also developed a romantic relationship with Ian Somerhalder. While Dobrev played on-screen love angle with both her co-stars Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, her off-screen romance with Ian Somerhalder was adored by the fans most.
Dobrev and Somerhalder started dating back in 2010, but later in 2013, they announced their split. Even though there has not been any official statement by either of the stars stating the reason for their split, a source reported to US Weekly that Dobrev was quite young and did not want to commit to a long-term relationship like marriage with Somerhalder.

“I think she decided she wanted to experience other things.” A source also explained, “The relationship kind of brewed out of a friendship and the fact that they had to get into a romance for the show.”
During their dating period, Somerhalder was 34 and Dobrev was 24, which makes it quite understandable that both of them wanted different things for their future. Also, after his breakup with Dobrev, Somerhalder started dating Nikki Reed and even got married to her after 6 months of their relationship.
This has raised speculations that maybe Ian Somerhalder wanted to get married and settle down with Nina Dobrev, but considering her age she wanted different things for the future.
Nina Dobrev And Shaun White: The Quarantine-Made Couple
Nina Dobrev dated a fair share of men before finding love with Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. Even though both Dobrev and White first met in 2012 they were not formally introduced until 2019.

It was in 2020 when Dobrev and White sparked dating rumors after they were spotted on a bicycle rider together in Malibu. After months of hanging out together, the couple made it official as they took to Instagram to share photos that showed Dobrev giving White a quarantine haircut. Not only this the couple was later spotted working together on a DIY home renovation project, painting the entire exterior of Dobrev’s house.
Even though the romance between the two started brewing during quarantine, they seem to be in it for a long haul.
