Conqueror’s Haki is one of the rarest powers to exist in the One Piece world, and very few characters are proficient in using it. Unlike the other two Haki forms- Armament Haki and Observational Haki -this power isn’t accessible to everyone, but only a chosen few. The basic level of this power allows its users to intimidate and overwhelm those with weaker wills.

When this technique is used to its full potential, the user can cover oneself in Conqueror’s Haki and deliver a great deal more damage to their opponents. Conqueror’s Haki is also known as Haoshoku Haki, and as the story progresses, several key characters emerge with the skills.

Anime fans have been enthralled with Roronoa Zoro’s determination and swordsmanship, but is there more to his strength than just being a skilled bladesman? There is one unanswered question that remains: Does Zoro possess Conqueror’s Haki, the powerful and rare kind of Haki saved for people who have the potential to be great?

Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman and right-hand man of Luffy, has long been a favorite character among fans due to his ferocious strength, relentless devotion to his mission, and distinctive three-sword combat style. Because of this, he is also considered to be among the leading contenders who possess Conqueror’s Haki, even though this was only recently revealed.

However, an X user and a notable One Piece fan, @pewpiece, brought some novel news to light. The post uploaded enlists some important facts about Roronoa Zoro via a vivre card. However, a section teases the fact whether Zoro truly has Conqueror’s Haki or not. The section reads: During the battle at Onigashima, Zoro’s sword emitted a black flash. Does he have the qualities of a king (Conquerors…)?!

It is well-known by now that Zoro awakened his Conqueror’s Haki for the first time when he fought Kaido and managed to wound him using it in the Wano Country arc. Later, Zoro utilized Conqueror’s Haki to entirely subdue Enma during the battle against King. Zoro eventually succeeded in covering all of his blades with what seems to be a more advanced form of Conqueror’s Haki.

However, this recent tweet threatens this knowledge and raises the question of whether Zoro has really awakened his Conqueror’s Haki abilities.

In episode 984, “Luffy Goes Out of Control?! Sneaking into Kaidou’s Banquet.,” from the Wano Country arc, he unintentionally unlocked his capability. In response to the provocation of the Beasts Pirates, he unleashed Conqueror’s Haki, quickly rendering them helpless.

Roronoa Zoro allegedly awakened his Conqueror’s Haki during the Wano Country arc when he first fought against Kaido. It’s where Zoro unintentionally used his Conqueror’s Haki to coat his blade, scarring the Yonko in the process. He later engaged in combat with King the Wildfire, defeating him and regaining complete command of his power.

Whether Zoro really did awaken his abilities is something fans need to be on the lookout for as One Piece enters its final saga, and Eiichiro Oda places all the final pieces on his board.

Frequently asked questions

Does Roronoa Zoro have Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece?

Yes. In the Wano Country arc Zoro awakened Conqueror’s Haki, using it to coat his sword and wound Kaido, and later infusing it into Enma during his fight with King. This article, however, highlights a Vivre Card reference that frames Zoro’s power as a question rather than a flat confirmation, which is what sparked fan debate. The canon feats stand; the discussion is really about how the Vivre Card chose to word it.

What did the Vivre Card actually say about Zoro that fans are debating?

As cited in the article, the Vivre Card notes that during the battle at Onigashima, Zoro’s sword emitted a black flash, then asks: “Does he have the qualities of a king (Conqueror’s…)?!” Because it is phrased as a question rather than a direct statement, some fans (the debate was surfaced by X user @pewpiece) read it as leaving Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki ambiguous, even though his Wano feats already showed it.

What is Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece?

Conqueror’s Haki, also called Haoshoku Haki, is portrayed as the rarest of the three Haki types, available only to a select few who have the disposition of a ruler. Its basic use lets wielders intimidate those with weaker wills, while advanced users can infuse it into their attacks for far greater damage. The series is created by Eiichiro Oda, and which characters truly carry this rare quality is a recurring source of fan discussion.
