However, people seem disappointed over the song choice in the new trailer, released on 20th July on YouTube. The trailer’s intimate moments feature a hauntingly beautiful song titled Strangers by Ethel Cain. Fans who are aware of the song’s lyrics shared their unease online. One fan commented:

In the final verse, the story takes a dark turn. Cain’s voice echoes from beyond the grave, revealing that her lover didn’t just kill her—he also cannibalized her. Lines like “Freezer bride, your sweet divine, You devour like smoked bovine hide,” leave little to the imagination.
The song’s dark themes are the opposite of the cheerful tone at the beginning of the novel’s early chapters. The book does talk about the tough realities of domestic violence and abuse. But using a song about cannibalism feels like it’s going too far and doesn’t fit well with the rest of the story.
