Patty Jenkins Declined To Rewrite Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3

Writer-turned-director Patty Jenkins is the brain behind one of the most loved franchises of DC, Wonder Woman. The American filmmaker has directed both installments of the Gal Gadot starrer movie. The speculations around the third chapter of Wonder Woman have been the talk of tinsel town for a long time. However, there has been no proper update on the development of the movie.

According to the rumors, after the leadership of DC was handed over to James Gunn and Peter Safran, the proposition for the threequel of Wonder Woman by Patty Jenkins was turned down by the co-heads. The Fast And Furious actor had tweeted about Wonder Woman, way before Patty Jenkins’ rejection news broke out. The tweet mentioned-

“A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character, and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.”

However, there has been no evidence of the third installment of Wonder Woman as of now. James Gunn and Peter Safran are way too preoccupied with their upcoming movie, Superman: Legacy, which is slated to release in 2025.

“There are so many incredible women directors out there. Patty Jenkins, Kari Skogland, Greta Gerwig, Alma Har’el. I feel like it’s always been about money, power [in Hollywood]. I think now, people are starting to understand that they can trust…female filmmakers with their money. They know what they’re doing and it’s great to see there are more and more opportunities for them out there now.”

According to the actor, she was offered the role of Barbie in Greta Gerwig-directed fantasy drama, but due to work commitments, she could not go ahead with the proposition.

Wonder Woman can be streamed on HBO Max.
