The first trailer
The first trailer of the sonic was premiered last year which captured the internet’s attention all over the tabloids in the worst way possible and led to a lot of disappointments. Sonic’s initial design received the majority of criticism from those who found the character’s creepy due to its similar humanoid appearance. And then there was the out-of-place use of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Negative reviews of the first trailer released
The studio removed the original trailer after it had gained more than 20 million views, and hundreds of thousands of dislikes, on YouTube leading to an abundance of negative emotions among the fans. In response to the criticism, director Jeff Fowler stated on twitter that Sonic would be redesigned in order to look more like his video game counterpart. The second trailer featuring the redesigned Sonic was revealed on Nov. 12, and garnered a far more favorable response, with both fans and critics praising Sonic’s new design.
Actual production cost
Due to the redesigning of the main character, the budget and production cost of the movie went hiking up. reports exaggerated the cost to be around 125 million dollars but in real the budget rounded up to be 95 million dollars.
