Regis Philbin’s ‘Live’ Didn’t Give Kelly Ripa a Bathroom Till 4 Years of Working There: “Didn’t make a whole lot of sense”
Kelly Ripa was apparently not treated very well by the show ‘Live’, even though she was a co-host of the program. In a tell-all interview, Ripa spilled the beans and revealed juicy details of her early days with the network. The ‘Live’ co-host vented her frustration and revealed that for four long years, she was deprived of a bathroom at the office, even though she was the face of the show.
Further, she revealed that despite co-hosting the popular television show, she wasn’t even allotted a decent office to work in and had to manage with a janitor’s closet. All these revelations cast a light on the sad state of affairs in the show. This adds to the dozens of controversies that are attached to the show and further degrades its reputation among people.
Kelly Ripa Shared a Bathroom With The ‘Live’ Audience For Four Years
Kelly Ripa revealed in a recent interview with Variety that she had to share a public bathroom with the audience during her first four years co-hosting Live with Regis and Kelly, even though her co-host Regis Philbin had a private bathroom. The powerful media mogul claims she had a hard time on the show during its early years.
She told the outlet,
“We have a studio audience — like 250 people! — and I have to queue up. Particularly when I was pregnant, it was extraordinarily exhausting to have to wait in line. I have to host the show, and I’m still waiting in line to use the bathroom.“
She continued,
“It just seemed, you know, a very needlessly difficult situation. What did tourists think of me having to stand in line to pee? They couldn’t believe it either.”
The All My Children actress claims that her early days on the show were challenging. Ripa also revealed that she didn’t have a permanent office at the studio, even though she had been co-hosting the show with late host Regis Philbin for several years. Ripa claimed she was forced to use a janitor’s closet as her cabin.
Kelly Ripa’s Husband, Mark Consuelos, Will co-host ‘Live’
Ryan Seacrest announced in February that he would be leaving Live with Kelly and Ryan after six seasons. This news shocked his fans, and Kelly Ripa, who has hosted the show since 2001, announced that she now be joined by her husband, Mark Consuelos, and the show will be renamed to Live with Kelly and Mark. Michael Gelman, the show’s executive producer, expressed his excitement as he welcomed Consuelous to the show. He wrote in a statement,
“As a fan-favorite guest host for years, Mark is no stranger to the Live family. Having him join the show is so special.”
Kelly Ripa had known Ryan Seacrest for many years. The host admitted during her recent interview that his departure from the show caused her anxiety. She claims her husband, who will take over as co-host in the fall, consoled her about Seacrest’s decision to leave. Mark Consuelos shared the news with his Instagram followers, congratulating Ryan Seacrest on his new venture and praising his wife Kelly Ripa. He wrote,
“Congrats on your next chapter @ryanseacrest. I love you like a brother. I know I have some big shoes to fill … well actually they’re only a size 9, but you know what I mean. @kellyripa my ride or die. This is going to be amazing! I can’t believe after all these years of listening to you talk free, I found a way to get paid for it.”
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been married for 24 years. The couple met in 1995 while working on All My Children and married the following year in Las Vegas.
