Robert Pattinson Reportedly Wants to Leave Hollywood For Something More Exciting
- Robert Pattinson has always been fearless with his career, and he is allegedly planning to take it a step further.
- He is reportedly preparing to exit Hollywood and move into a new direction which will be facilitated by Mickey 17.
- Pattinson is allegedly not the only one who wants this change in his career as some other might follow suit.
Robert Pattinson has never been one of the conventional A-list actors who frequently attend big events or star in major studio films. Despite his resentment toward his portrayal of the sparkling, century-old vampire in the Twilight Saga, it is undeniable that the franchise provided the career boost he needed at the time.
Since then, he has branched out into more independent films but is now reportedly planning to make a big move which entails him leaving Hollywood for the most part. Fans need not worry that the departure from the industry is because he wants to retire. Instead, he is allegedly preparing to work his charm on East Asia now as he wants to break into the Korean market.
Robert Pattinson is reportedly planning to shift to the Korean film industry
Robert Pattinson never really wanted to become an actor. His initial aim was to become a musician or even study speechwriting at university. As fate would have it, his performance as George Gibbs in the play Our Town at Barnes Theater Company caught the eye of a talent agent who convinced him to audition for professional acting roles.
Pattinson’s first acting role in a film was as the son of Reese Witherspoon’s character in the costume drama, Vanity Fair. The next year, he earned worldwide recognition for his role as Cedric Diggory in the fourth installment of the Harry Potter film franchise, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
His next big thing turned out to be his role in the Twilight Saga. Once that came to an end, he mostly starred in independent films until he landed the role of Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. His next big venture is Mickey 17, and a source has recently revealed to Life&Style magazine that this movie is a stepping stone for the film career he wants to have in the Korean industry.
Rob went into Mickey 17 with a very positive attitude around the idea of working with a Korean director and a mostly Korean crew to craft a movie that could be as big a hit in the Far East as it is in the U.S. It’s been a real ride for Rob and he’s had great support from Brad Pitt and the other Western producers involved but the prize for Rob and his team is a real footprint in the red-hot Korean media marketplace.
Mickey 17, based on Edward Ashton’s hit novel Mickey 7, is a collaborative project between the American and Korean film industries. While the project is funded by the American film industry, its creative team, including director Bong Joon-ho, hails from Korea.
Robert Pattinson is not the only one who wants to be a part of the Korean film industry
The Korean film industry reached new heights with the success of Parasite, which became the first-ever foreign-language film to win an Academy Award for Best Picture. Then, there is also the love for the Korean TV series, Squid Game, which has been already renewed for a third season.
According to the publication, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, and Netflix have all set up Korea-based studios to ensure that they can make a breakthrough in the market. The source further said:
Warner Bros. has committed to putting a lot of money and energy behind making Rob into a bona fide star in South Korea and giving him a base there from which he can mount more projects. The Plan B-produced Mickey 17 is completed and ready to be released in January 2025.
It’s something you’re seeing a lot lately with the U.S. movie business in something of a decline. The biggest stars, Rob included, are looking at territories where they’ll have an easier time getting stuff made.
Lately, Pattinson has been busy with the welcome of his new baby girl with girlfriend Suki Waterhouse in the family. However, following Mickey 17, fans can expect him to start working on The Batman: Part Two which means that he is not going anywhere at least for the next couple of years.
