Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Were Relieved as They Did Not Have to Go Through Torturous Behind the Scene Process For Their Ahsoka Transformation
Sci-fi action Disney+ miniseries Ahsoka is the latest spin-off of The Mandalorian from the Star Wars franchise. The series sees Rosario Dawson reprising her role as Ahsoka Tano from The Mandalorian. It follows the story of Ahsoka who is on a quest to find out and annihilate the threat to the galaxy after the fall of the galactic Empire in the Star Wars world.
As is tradition, actors have to undergo a huge transformation to appear as superheroes or supernatural beings according to the need. Most times, it turns out to be an extremely cumbersome process as it involves sitting in front of the mirror for hours on end while makeup artists make the necessary changes to their appearance. This, however, didn’t seem to be the case for Ahsoka actresses Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Ahsoka‘s Rosario Dawson Made A Shocking Revelation
Men In Black II actress Rosario Dawson has been in show business for more than two decades. Her role in Ahsoka was confirmed right when the show was announced in December 2020. Dawson’s portrayal of the orange-skinned and striped-hair-tailed Star Wars alien is the closest to the animated Clone Wars, thanks to the creator Dave Filoni.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rosario Dawson revealed the time it took for her to transform into the titular character of the show had reduced to a mere 90 minutes despite the complexities of the look. She said:
“We were very proud! We timed ourselves every single day. Depending on how much skin was showing, sometimes it would go up to two hours.”

Dawson went on to say that she had to be on the set two hours before the crew. So, while the rest of the crew would get there at 6 AM, the actress would have to be there at 4 AM. Furthermore, it would take at least half an hour to take all the makeup off after a full day’s shooting.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead Spent Lesser Time On The Makeup Chair
Unlike Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Zoe Saldana (Gamora) who spent three and a half hours on her transformation and Karen Gillan (Nebula) who spent close to four hours on the same, Ahsoka’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead who played the role of Hera Syndulla in the show only spent a stunning sixty minutes on her transformation into the Twi’lek pilot.

On Entertainment Weekly’s Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Winstead said:
“Yeah I sort of just for the sake of a story, I’d love for it to be really complicated and say it was an eight-hour process, but thankfully it wasn’t. They got it down to about an hour which is a pretty normal time to be sitting in the makeup chair for any project. So I was so grateful for that, I think everyone came into it wanting it to look right but also not be too torturous a process for me.”
However, the actress also said that the whole process was not always of such a short span as it took her about three hours on the first day. The makeup artists kept working on it until they got it down to one hour for which Winstead is evidently very grateful.
