The Avatar franchise led by phenomenal filmmaker James Cameron comes under the list of highest-grossing projects in the history of cinema. However, not many people know that the Titanic director could not notice an important aspect with respect to the special whispy font of the Avatar logo. During an interview with BBC Radio 1 in 2022, James Cameron was asked about what he thinks about Ryan Gosling’s SNL skit that talks about the papyrus font with respect to Avatar’s logo. He said-

“It’s haunted me… Not really. It is pretty funny. I’m just astonished that they spent that much money on a little cinematic vignette that’s around a, you know, such a wispy thin concept! I said ‘Alright, guys, we are now doubling down!

He further mentioned-

We’re using Papyrus for everything!’ […] The funniest thing about that whole story is I didn’t even know it was Papyrus, nobody asked me! I just thought the art department had come up with this cool font!”

Ryan Gosling’s SNL skit became viral and went on to amass a staggering viewership of 18 million on YouTube and even inspired multiple TikToks. James Cameron claimed that he was not aware of the font used in Avatar’s logo despite being the brain behind the billion-dollar franchise.

During an interview with the reputed media outlet Variety in December 2023, James Cameron and Greta Gerwig appeared together and spoke about their love for filmmaking, their respective projects, and Ryan Gosling. While talking about the La La Land actor James Cameron asked Greta Gerwig to tell him about Ryan Gosling as believed he was incredibly brave as Ken in Barbie. She said-

“Noah and I wrote it for Ryan. I’d never met him, but I loved him as an actor. I thought he was always very funny, but he was funny from a place of total sincerity. He came to rehearsals, and I saw him and Margot, and I had a moment where I looked at the two of them acting together and thought, “I want to watch this movie.”
