Jennifer Lopez’s Shotgun Wedding was a hilarious rom-com movie with a great plot. The film, however, received mixed reviews from the audience, making only a little above $8 million at the box office. It turns out that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was initially offered the role opposite Lopez. And despite a cool $1.5 million in the offering, Reynolds rejected it. This rejection paved the way for Josh Duhamel to bag the role. While Duhamel did decent as the lead star, Reynolds would have definitely done much better in the film. His presence would have also helped the movie at the box office.

Rom-com films usually have a pair of stars that lead the film. And as such, their chemistry together often determines the film’s fate. Reynolds’ inclusion in the titular project would have given the Shotgun Wedding a big lift, and perhaps the film could’ve done far better. This incident shows the importance of getting the casting right in the movies. It can make or break a project!
