Ryan Seacrest’s ‘Live’ Salary is Peanuts Compared to What He Made from American Idol
Ryan Seacrest is known for his sheer talent of hosting a show in a lighthearted way in an attempt to entertain his audience. Reportedly, watching him on television, and hosting shows like Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, and several others, makes us wonder about his net worth.
Considering his current residence to be in New York City, it is for sure, Ryan Seacrest earns enough to sustain a million-dollar lifestyle. However, amid his recent decision of leaving Live, people started wondering if it was because of financial reasons. It has been thus reported, Seacrest’s income from Live is minuscule to what he earns from American Idol.
Ryan Seacrest’s Earning As A Live Co-host
Born in Atlanta, Ryan Seacrest moved to Los Angeles at 19 in an attempt to seek opportunities for his broadcasting career. Rising to fame by hosting shows like Radical Outdoor Challenge, Seacrest got his first big break in 2002, when he signed a contract with American Idol. However, alongside his career on the reality show, the 48-year-old pursued his infamous talk show, Live with Kelly and Ryan since 2017.
Filling the seat of former co-host Michael Strahan, Ryan Seacrest appeared alongside Kelly Ripa. Having the “privilege and pleasure to work alongside Kelly”, Seacrest claimed being fortunate in his “career to be a part of some incredible TV programs”. Thrilled to start his mornings with Live, the 48-year-old found “tremendous success” and an “impeccable reputation”. Coming to his deal, according to Forbes, Seacrest made $10M a year as a co-host on Live with Kelly and Ryan. While Kelly Ripa made $22M a year for her role on the talk show.
Initially having signed with Live with Kelly and Ryan for 3 years, Seacrest extended his stay to 6 years, until he announced his exit in 2023, to seek better opportunities.
Ryan Seacrest Is Bagging Millions From American Idol
Considering his exit from Live made his fans wonder, how much must he be bagging from American Idol to sustain a lifestyle in NYC. Well to be precise, the 48-year-old’s salary at the talent show made his salary at Live look peanut-sized. Hosting 15 seasons of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest rose to fame from 2002-16, until FOX canceled the show. However, Seacrest further returned to the ABC rebooted series American Idol in 2018.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest joined American Idol with a deal of $5M per season. Further, in 2009, Seacrest signed a $45M deal to continue hosting with a salary of $15M per season. Up until 2015, and the final season of the show, the 48-year-old received $15M each season. However, later on during the rebooted series of American Idol, Seacrest negotiated a $10M per season salary with ABC.
Although his ABC rebooted salary is $5M less than what he used to earn with FOX, Seacrest still made way more than he earned from Live with Kelly and Ryan. Currently standing on a net worth of $450M, Ryan Seacrest is enjoying a successful life.
