American singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter recently turned 25 years old on May 11, 2024. As the day was already an important event in itself, she made it more memorable with a cheeky dig at Leonardo DiCaprio’s controversial dating patterns.

Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio is famous for dating much younger women, preferably women under 25. This has made DiCaprio’s every relationship in the past questionable whether it was a serious one or not. Some people even criticize DiCaprio’s preferences as objectifying women.

However, Carpenter’s choice to include a humorous reference to his dating pattern in her birthday celebrations made the occasion even funnier and also showed her ability to have pop culture references.

Sabrina Carpenter celebrated her 25th birthday with a cute Instagram post where she expressed her growth from age to age. The post was a carousel with cute pictures from her childhood that made her fans remember the path that she had been through and that made her the successful artist she is today.

Apart from the Instagram post, Carpenter also shared a picture of another cake on her Instagram stories (via Yahoo!). The cake was decorated with a line that said,

“Is 25 that sweet? I guess so!”

This line is a reference to her song Espresso, which has the lyrics, “Is it that sweet? I guess so!”

Among them all, the real show stealer was her birthday cake, with a tongue-in-cheek reference to Leonardo DiCaprio’s infamous dating history. The cake had Leo’s face with a line written on it that said,

“Nooo don’t turn 25 your so s*xy aha”

The frosting was decorated with the meme about Leo’s apparent habit of ditching his lovers after they turn 25. This made the cake funny, but at the same time, it stayed close to the theme of Carpenter’s 25th birthday.

Leonardo DiCaprio‘s romantic relationships, especially his habit of dating much younger girls, have been a topic of controversy. Since his breakup with Gisele Bündchen in 2004, when she was 23, DiCaprio has not been in the public eye with a woman who is over 25.

In 2011, 35-year-old DiCaprio went on a year-long trip with Blake Lively, 23, as his companion. During the years 2013 to 2017, as DiCaprio’s age went from 38 to 42, he was in a relationship with Toni Garrn, Kelly Rohrbach, and Nina Agdal. They were all in their twenties, and there was a different version of every breakup according to different resources. Just like the many before her, Agdal left DiCaprio at the age of 25. He is currently dating Vittoria Ceretti who is also 25 years old at present.

That pattern opened discussions around power relations, objectification, and societal constraints that women face as they grow older. However, DiCaprio’s friends say that his personal dating choices are his own and he should not be the subject of public judgment. According to New York Post, Heidi Fleiss, who has known DiCaprio since his younger days, said,

“Good for him. I’m on his side. He connects with women who are young and beautiful. He wants people who stimulate him mentally and physically. Why does he need to be with some woman who’s been through the wringer, who’s desperate to get what she can out of him and wants to tie him down?
