Oscar Isaac starring Moon Knight Season 2 to focus on Jake Lockley

In Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac plays the character of a man who suffers from DID, i.e., dissociative identity disorder; Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley, and of course Moon Knight. For the second season of the show, according to Marvel Updates, the main focus will be on the third personality of the character, i.e., Jake Lockley.

Jake Lockley was introduced towards the end of season one, and it was revealed that he is the reason why Khonshu was never worried about losing Marc as an avatar. He is shown to have the most violent tendencies out of all the personalities. Head writer Jeremy Slater shared about the character via Marvel.com;

“We knew right from the beginning that fans were going to be on the lookout for refrences and clues that Jake Lockley is going to appear in the show. Everyone else who is totally unfamiliar with the character and the dynamic, we have to make sure that the mystery works as satisfying for the newcomers to the Moon Knight story.”

Slater continued to explain that creating Moon Knight was just a balancing act that involved his team of writers. He also added that support from directors, executives, cast, and crew all the way up to Kevin Feige was involved in knowing how many breadcrumbs are they going to drop.

With this exciting update on season two of the highly awaited series, the makers are equally eager to know fans’ take on Jake Lockley. Having said that, Steven Grant and Marc Spector will also feature in the second installment of the series.

Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight’s wife Layla El-Faouly will return for season 2

One of the breakthrough performances in season one was of May Calamawy, who played Layla El-Faouly a.k.a. Scarlet Scarab. Lyla is an archeologist and adventurer in addition to being Spector’s wife, who is aware of the fact that he is Moon Knight.

According to the X account; Marvel Updates has reported,

“Layla El-Faouly aka Scarlet Scarab will return.”

It’s going to be interesting to see how the story unfolds as Lyla became Scarlet Scarab in the sixth episode of season one. It has also been noted that Layla El-Faouly’s backstory for the Moon Knight series is based on Marlene Alraune and was changed from Caucasian to Egyptian.

Director Mohamed Diab explained this change in the series during an interview with Variety;

“Sometimes Marvel picks a name and then gives it to the character that is developed. We’re creating Layla free of all of that and then we gave her a name. The name is not important to me. What she represents is what’s more important.”

Diab also explained in the interview that actress May Calamawy, who plays the character became the biggest ally of Layla when she came on board. The actress drew her inspiration for playing Layla from Middle Eastern women.
