Following the announcement of their split in June, Shakira and Gerard Piqué went under a prolonged trial. The reason being both parties are not ready to conform to the other’s demands. After their break up, the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker shared in an interview with Elle that she was still in the processing stage. And she added being in the public eye had worsened the situation for her and her children. Recently, it has been speculated that the long-standing dispute might have reached its end. And that the couple may have finally found a common ground.
Shakira and Gerard Piqué’s Split and Long-standing Legal Dispute
In June 2022, the Spanish center-back and the Queen of Latin Pop announced their split with a statement that read,
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”
Following this news, their divorce was highly publicized, and constantly being in the public eye worsened the situation. After the split, Shakira gave her first interview with Elle. At the time the Waka Waka hitmaker shared that she still had not fully recovered from the divorce. She revealed saying,
“I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all,” she continued. “It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it”
At around the same time, rumors of Gerard Piqué having a relationship with 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti also started to surface. And according to Hollywood Life, a source shared that the She-Wolf singer believed it to be unnecessary. This was because before announcing their split the two had promised to keep the news hushed at least for a year from the public.
The source also mentioned that nevertheless, Shakira’s top priority was her children. And her ex-husband’s actions did not matter as much anymore. In the interview with Elle, the Waka Waka singer shared the main problem was the media’s perception of the divorce. And according to her, it was affecting not just herself but also her two kids.

But recently, both Shakira and Gerard Piqué seem to have decided to end the ugly deal with their legal team’s help. There have been speculations that the dispute might be over at last. It has been suggested that after a long battle, the legal teams might have finally reached common ground for their clients.
