“She corrected me”: Timothee Chalamet’s Mother May Not See Wonka as Her Favorite Film but Has Some Positive Things to Say About It
Timothee Chalamet recently said in an interview with People Magazine that his upcoming film, Wonka, is his mother’s favourite movie in his filmography. But, later she called him and cleared up his misunderstanding.
The Dune actor revealed that Wonka may be his mother, Nicole Flender’s favourite film he has ever been in, but that was not the case as Nicole had another film of her son on her list.
Woka is a musical fantasy directed by Paul King. He also wrote the story and shared the screenplay writing credits with Simon Farnaby. The film was released on 8th December in the United Kingdom and is scheduled to be released on 15th December in the United States.

After Timothee’s interview with People, Nicole called him and said ‘Beautiful Boy’ was her favourite film. According to Chalamet, she added when she saw Wonka, she told him “It’s nice to see you smile.”
Call Me By Your Name star initially told People that, his mom told him that he “gotta be happier” in his films after watching Bones and All last year. Chalamet added that he comes from a musical-theatre family, and his upcoming film, Wonka, fits in the genre. (Source: People)
Timothee Chalamet said that Wonka is the “kind of movie” he would’ve thought he’d be working on 10 years ago, “if I was lucky enough to work at all.” The Oscar nominee also mentioned that Wonka was “so fun to work with.” Adding to that, he said, that this film was “unlike anything I’ve ever worked on.”

Paul King’s directorial film, Wonka, is based on the original story of ‘Willy Wonka,’ a fictional character from the 1964 book ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,’ by Roald Dahl.
Willy Wonka is an aspiring magician and chocolatier who has a dream to open a shop in a renowned city of chocolates. Timothee Chalamet plays the chocolatier and the other major role includes Calah Lane as ‘Noodle,’ Willy’s assistant.
Wonka is the third adaptation of Roald’s 1964, while the very first adaptation was a 1971 musical feature ‘Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.’ directed by Mel Stuart. In 2005, Warner Bros. made another film Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, directed by Tim Burton.

Timothee Chalamet started his career with the television series Homeland in 2012 and made his debut in films in 2014 with Men, Women and Children. He has also worked with renowned filmmakers like Christopher Nolan for Interstellar (2014), Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019).
His mother’s favourite Beautiful Boy was directed by Felix Van Groeningen, and was based on the memoirs Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff. Chalamet played the protagonist ‘Nic,’ who is a drug addict and his relationship with his father gets enstrained due to his addiction.
Timothee Chalamet got worldwide recognition for his film Call Me By Your Name, in 2017, directed by Luca Guadagnino. He received an Oscar nomination for his performance in the film. His other project with Luca was Bones and All in 2022, which he also produced.
