“She didn’t receive any paid vacation”: Jennifer Lopez and Ex-Husband Marc Anthony Made their Maid Pay for Groceries From Her Own Pocket Despite Combined Worth of Almost $500M
The complicated lifestyles of celebrities force them to stay out of their house for a long time, depending on their appointed nannies and housekeepers with overtime service. But at times things can go really wrong, ending with nannies and housekeepers filing lawsuits. In a similar event, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez faced a $500,000 worth of lawsuit from their long-time housekeeper Concetta Graziosi.
The lawsuit was filed by Graziosi, on the basis of a lack of vacation pay and overtime pay. Despite having trouble finding a suitable nanny for their twins, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony ultimately settled for Concetta Graziosi who worked for more than a decade. However, the decade-long work relationship between Graziosi and the celebrity couple somehow ended with a lawsuit.
Jennifer Lopez had high demand and expectations from a nanny
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony had a troubled married life. Amidst their crazy workload and unconventional lifestyle, the couple had a rather tough time finding help at home. Being married from 2004 to 2014, Lopez had a twin with her former husband Marc Anthony.
We know about the hectic schedules of celebrities, and amid that, having and managing twins should be considered a work of a warrior. Something similar was faced by Lopez and Anthony after they welcomed their twins. The couple was so out of place and new to the situation that they desperately needed help and they were even willing to pay $2,250 per week.
But something was off about the offer since nannies weren’t knocking at the door of the celebrities. It was the hours of service involved, that made it hard for the couple to find a suitable and trustworthy nanny. Jennifer Lopez wanting one nanny to take care of the twins as well as work for sixteen hours per day with no weekend off definitely seems like a little too much.
Given the intense schedule and the workload, the couple finally had a bit of luck with Concetta Graziosi, who was their third try. After working for more than a decade under pressure, something drove even Graziosi away by filing a lawsuit against Marc Anthony.
Marc Anthony settled a $500,000 worth lawsuit with Concetta Graziosi
Although the couple successfully managed to raise their children amid their busy schedule and with umpteen help from their nanny, Anthony ran into problems with Concetta Graziosi. Amid the work-life stress of celebrities, settling lawsuits can be quite hectic.
Graziosi filed a $500,000 worth lawsuit against Marc Anthony in 2018. After starting her work in 2005 as the housekeeper and nanny for Lopez and Anthony’s twins, Graziosi lasted till 2017. She later sued Anthony in Brooklyn federal court for alleged unpaid wages, and lack of vacation pay. Although the matter was settled in private mediation, the exclusive report stated that Concetta Graziosi “received $2,000 every two weeks, despite working around the clock.” Apart from her overtime service, she mentioned that she “didn’t receive any paid vacation”.
It was further mentioned in the lawsuit “At times [Graziosi] would buy groceries for the household prior to her ‘official shift’ starting, with no compensation” Despite being charged with such inhuman treatment, Marc Anthony denied any wrongdoing.
The lawsuit was resolved easily and privately although the terms were not disclosed and Marc Anthony was left out of serious trouble by forking nearly $500,000.
