‘She does not like JLo’: $18M Rich Singer Brandy Publicly Humiliated Jennifer Lopez, Sided With Mariah Carey In Viral Instagram Post
Singer Brandy once sided with Mariah Carey during her decades-long feud with Jennifer Lopez. The feud between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez began in the 90s when both of them were in the initial phase of their careers. The feud still goes on as they still haven’t reconciled. In the early-2000s, in an interview, Mariah Carey was asked to give her opinion on other female singers at the time. She was then asked to give her opinion on Jennifer Lopez to which she replied, “I don’t know her.” In 2017, singer Brandy posted a picture on Instagram and the caption seemed to be a dig at Mariah Carey’s arch-rival.

In 2017, singer Brandy posted a picture with Mariah Carey implying that she supports Mariah Carey amidst her feud with Jennifer Lopez. The caption of the picture seemed to be a dig at Jennifer Lopez as she wrote, “#SheKnowsMe“. It seemed like a direct attack on the Hustlers star as Mariah Carey once said she “doesn’t know” Jennifer Lopez. The comment section was flooded with people speculating if that was an attack on Lopez as Mariah Carey even commented under the post. She wrote, “I sure do!”
Why does Mariah Carey hate Jennifer Lopez?
Their feud began because of Mariah Carey’s ex-husband, Tommy Mottola. At the time, due to problems in their relationship he allegedly tried to give the sample Mariah Carey was working on to Jennifer Lopez. Mariah Carey mentioned this in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. She explained the incident without directly naming Lopez. She wrote,
“After hearing my new song, using the same sample I used, Sony rushed to make a single for another female entertainer on their label (whom I don’t know). After all that s**t, ‘Loverboy’ [Her song] ended up being the best-selling single of 2001 in the United States. I’m real.”
The singer was frustrated that the On The Floor singer used the same sample that she used for her own song.
Jennifer Lopez addressed their feud
During Jennifer Lopez’s appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2018, host Andy Cohen directly asked the singer if she has any problems with Mariah Carey. She replied,
“I don’t have a feud against her at all. I know from back in the day, I’ve read things that she’s said about me that were not the greatest. But we have never met. We don’t know each other.”
However, she clarified that she doesn’t mind being friends with her, “I would love to meet her, and I would love to be friends with her.” The singers still haven’t reconciled and no one can tell if they ever will.
