Rihanna is garnering headlines due to the incredible performance she presented during the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. She definitely became the apple of everyone’s eye not just because she donned an all-red ensemble but also because of the powerful comeback she gave to her fans after a period of seven years.
Just like her performance is receiving attention, many fans couldn’t help but figure out how her performance was a tribute to her friend, Kanye West even after his insensitive comments towards the Jewish community. Though, this is reportedly not going to change her thoughts on the rapper.
Rihanna Criticized for Her Super Bowl LVII Performance Due to Kanye West
The duo shares an amicable relationship due to their same mentor, Jay-Z. Not just that, many in the music industry are aware of the fact that the duo were frequent collaborators. While Kanye West is a fan of Rihanna, the duo have always supported each other which was also seen in this year’s Super Bowl as many suspected that the Barbadian singer was honoring the music producer.
This is because she performed a medley of her popular hits during the Super Bowl LVII in which one of the songs, All of the Lights was highlighted. This song belonged to the rapper’s 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy featuring the singer.
Not just that, her costume which was an all-red ensemble was reported to be inspired by his Donda listening party outfit in 2021. Even the floating platform was quite similar to West’s Saint Pablo Tour which is why fans couldn’t notice but point out the differences.
Due to these similarities, the 34-year-old singer has been criticized online. For the unversed, Ye shared anti-semitic remarks last year towards the Jewish community on social media and interviews. This led to a severe public backlash which eventually led to a massive loss in his fortune as many brands cut off their ties with him.
Even after that, the influential star would still be supporting the infamous rapper.

As per The Sun, RiRi would not abandon her friend and reportedly doesn’t even care about what people think of her recent showdown.

“Rihanna is still great friends with Ye, and so is [ASAP] Rocky” adding, “She doesn’t care if people are offended by her paying tribute to him at the Super Bowl.”
The source further added,
“She still supports him, even if she doesn’t always agree with what he has to say, or his political views.”
Regarding using the Ye’s track in the NFL show, the source stated,
“All of the Lights was one of Rihanna’s biggest hits as a feature, she’s never going to take it out of her set, and now it’s doing well again on iTunes as a result of the show.”
