“She’s a character who I absolutely love”: Krysten Ritter Would Return to Jessica Jones Role “in a heartbeat” and Her Rumored Marvel Salary Justifies Her Feelings
Krysten Ritter began her career as a model after she was scouted by a modeling agent at the age of 15. She continued to model as a high school student. A TV commercial for Wendy’s landed her on the radar of the casting agents, and she started appearing in small roles in films in 2001.
Ritter rose to prominence as Jane Margolis in the AMC crime drama Breaking Bad, which is regarded as one of the best TV shows to date. She gained even more recognition for playing the titular role in the Netflix superhero show Jessica Jones, based on the eponymous Marvel Comics character. Although she played that role years ago, she still seems to have a soft spot for it as she recently said she would not mind doing it again.
Krysten Ritter Would Not Mind Playing Jessica Jones Again
Krysten Ritter played Jane Margolis, a recovering drug addict and tattoo artist who falls victim to Walter White’s drug-making business, in Breaking Bad. That role changed the trajectory of her career as she became one of the most in-demand actors overnight. However, her character passed away in the twelfth episode of the show’s second season, which aired in 2009.
In 2014, she was auditioning for the titular character in the show Jessica Jones and a role in Fargo Season 2 at the same time. Although the latter role went to Kirsten Dunst, who met her future husband Jesse Plemons while working on the show, Ritter landed the role of Jessica and became synonymous with the character with a phenomenal performance.
Considering how much time has passed since she last portrayed Jessica, one would think she has outgrown it. However, her recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter proves otherwise.
I am ready and I would, of course, be there in a heartbeat. She’s a character who I absolutely love, and she was a part of my life for so long. So if the opportunity calls, I may or may not have an extra jacket already. Fingers crossed, you never know. But that would be exciting, of course.
Ritter played the role for three seasons and even appeared in the 2017 miniseries The Defenders. According to The Richest, she earned $250,000 for each episode, so it is also profitable for her from a commercial aspect.
Krysten Ritter Mentioned Losing the Fargo Role to Jesse Plemons
Ritter missed the chance to work alongside Jesse Plemons in Fargo Season 2, but they came a full circle when they worked together in Max’s Love & Death, released last year. While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed how she had no hard feelings about missing the chance to star alongside Plemons all those years ago.
It was a win-win for everybody! I mentioned it to [Plemons], and I also worked with Kirsten a million years ago in my very first movie, Mona Lisa Smile, where I had one line.
It truly has been a win-win for everybody as Ritter gained stardom for starring as Jessica, and Plemons and Dunst fell for each other while working on Fargo. Not to mention that Ritter has now worked with both of the actors.
Jessica Jones is available for streaming on Disney+.
