“She’s f-ing phenomenal”: Cillian Murphy Gushes Over Florence Pugh After Backlash Over Their Intimate Scenes From ‘Oppenheimer’
When intimate scenes are included in blockbuster movies, they can evoke various reactions from the audience and can turn out to be offensive to many. This is happening with the current ongoing blockbuster movie by Christopher Nolan, in which an intimate scene is most talked about.
During the intimate scene, viewers can see a Holy book being read while two characters are seen having s*x, which has hurt the sentiments of quite a large number of people. The movie is also being criticized and the director and actors are being questioned. Despite this, the Oppenheimer actor is praising his costar for her phenomenal performance in the movie.
Cillian Murphy is Hailing co-star Florence Pugh
The Peaky Blinders star plays the lead in Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy said the s*x scenes with co-star Florence Pugh, who plays his love interest Jean Tatlock, actually has a good reason for appearing in the film. Even though Pugh had a shorter screen time in the movie, she left a great impact on it and became part of the most talked-about scene. Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald about the s*x scenes, Murphy said:
“Those scenes were written deliberately written…He [Director Christopher Nolan] knew that those scenes would get the movie the rating that it got. And I think when you see it, it’s so f-ing powerful.”
He continued by praising his co-star for her performance and the intimate scene by stating:
“And they’re not gratuitous. They’re perfect. And Florence is just amazing. I think she’s f-ing phenomenal…She has this presence as a person and on-screen that is staggering. The impact she has for the size of the role, it’s quite devastating.”.
