The Canadian actor has already shown his hosting prowess in Character Media’s Unforgettable Gala held in December 2023.

However, Simu Liu has assured that there would be no jokes about Taylor Swift as Jo Koy’s gig with the famous singer went on to become an egregious mistake that almost made him a public enemy.

Simu Liu Would Be Hosting The People’s Choice Awards 2024

The announcement of Simu Liu hosting the Peoples Choice Awards has raised eyebrows. After the American comedian-turned-actor, Jo Koy was blasted for his opening monologue, which led to a mixed reaction on social media. Some liked Jo Koy’s hosting skills, whereas some even felt he was a clear misfit with respect to the prestigious event.

The Shang Chi actor is all excited to showcase his hosting skills again. During a recent interview with the reputed media outlet Variety, Simu Liu said-

“I’m so grateful to have been asked to step up to the hosting plate for the 2024 ‘People’s Choice Awards. It’s exciting to celebrate this incredible year in pop culture, and to do so with the incredible fans that make what we do possible.”

The executive vice president of specials at NBC Universal and live events, Jen Neal even expressed her excitement about having Simu Liu as a host for the upcoming People’s Choice Awards. She said-

“We’re thrilled to have Simu Liu host the 2024 ‘People’s Choice Awards. As a fan-favorite tour de force in Hollywood, Simu’s limitless charm and connection to fans perfectly embody the spirit of this awards show.” 

The 2024 People’s Choice Awards will be held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on February 18. The show be live telecasted on Peacock, E! and NBC.

Jo Koy Breaks His Silence On The Fallout Of 81st Golden Globe Awards

Jo Koy’s stint with hosting has become the talk of the tinsel town. However, the 52-year-old actor has put the onus of his out-of-the-place gigs on the poor writing of the writers. During an exclusive interview with the entertainment outlet Good Morning America 3, he said-

“Some [jokes] I wrote, some other people wrote,” Koy said from the stage. “Yo, I got the gig ten days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Shut up! You’re kidding me, right? I wrote some of these, and they’re the ones you’re laughing at.”

“We’re back. Hollywood was closed. It’s back open again. Let’s just celebrate. They’re eating, drinking, having a good time. 150 countries were watching. They saw how much fun we had.”

Jo Koy’s Golden Globe gigs were directed on the runtime of Oppenheimer, Succession, Barry Keoghan’s onscreen n*dity in Saltburn, Harry and Meghan Markle, Barbie, Meryl Streep and Ryan Gosling.
