Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s Cast Discusses Diversity

The voices of Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Rio Morales (Miles’ mother) are provided by actors Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Luna Lauren Vélez. In a recent interview with MySA, they discussed the value of diversity in cinema and speculated about what they might learn if they came across a real-life superhero multiverse.

When questioned about Rio Morales’ representation as a Latina mother, Luna Lauren Vélez stressed the tenacity, love, and resolve of her character. She characterized Rio as a mother who is encouraging and helpful, pushing her kid to attain his greatest potential while guiding him down the proper road.

On the other hand, Hailee Steinfeld provides the voiceover for Gwen Stacy from Earth 65. Like Miles, Stacy avoids getting too close to people because of her double life. Her relationship with her father, a police captain, has suffered as a result. Gwen Stacy is a young girl that exhibits a great level of maturity and composure for her age as a result of her experiences. She is calm, collected, and confident.
