Star Trek Actor Announces Future MCU Project Already Planning to Bring Him Back after Infamous Death
Star Trek Universe‘s Captain Pike wishes to return as Black Bolt! While the members of the Earth-838 Illuminati were all murdered by the Scarlet Witch during her rampage through the Baxter Foundation building in the 2022 film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there are speculations as to Black Bolt’s return in the upcoming MCU releases.
Among the many surprises, the recent Doctor Strange film had, the return of Anson Mount’s Black Bolt was a major one. But, seeing as Earth-838’s Black Bolt is dead, will the character ever show up in the MCU’s main reality?
Is Black Bolt Returning For The Future MCU Projects?
Black Bolt actor, Anson Mount recently shared if Marvel Studios has any plans of reviving the ruler of Attilan back for future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Talking to RadioTimes.com, Mount gave a puzzling response about his highly probable return to MCU. He was seen as Black Bolt in the 2022 Doctor Strange 2 film.
Saying if he is about to return as Black Bolt in the upcoming MCU projects, Mount told, “If the answer was yes I wouldn’t be able to tell you – but the answer is no, so I can.” However, he said that he did have some informal talks with the MCU heads about Black Bolt’s return.
The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor then added, “I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.” Mount’s debut appearance as Black Bolt happened in the ABC drama series Inhumans, which was scraped off after a single season due to poor viewership. While fans assumed to it be the end of Black Bolt, the actor made a surprise cameo in the 2022 film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as the Earth-838 variant of the character.
Doctor Strange 2‘s Black Bolt Is Currently Occupied In The Star Trek Universe
Anson Mount currently features as Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery. The show follows the crew of the starship USS Enterprise a decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. The first season of the 10-episode series was out in 2022 on Paramount+. The second season started off in June 2023 and is expected to conclude in August. The show’s third season is already under development but was affected in between due to the writer’s strike.
The American sci-fi franchise which began with a television series is today a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. The Star Trek franchise is one of the most well-loved and longest-running franchises of all time, with its modern incarnations arguably keeping Star Trek as strong as ever.
