“Stop being such a p***y”: Emily Blunt Reveals Tom Cruise Asked Her To Stop Whining When Actress Had Panic Attacks While Filming ‘Edge of Tomorrow’
Actress Emily Blunt recently talked about the advice actor Tom Cruise gave her when they worked together on Edge of Tomorrow. The actress appeared on the SmartLess podcast recently and talked about the time when she worked with the Mission Impossible star on the set of the 2014 action blockbuster. In the movie, the two played warriors in a time loop who attempt to save humanity after Earth is attacked by aliens. The movie required them to wear heavy suits. The actress had problems with the heavy suit so Tom Cruise approached her and gave her some advice that somehow motivated her to continue the shoot.
Emily Blunt struggled with the costume
Actress Emily Blunt recently appeared on the SmartLess podcast and recalled the time when she was struggling while filming Edge of Tomorrow (2014). She admitted that she cried when she was asked to wear an 85-pound costume. She said,
“We had to wear these enormous suits, which I think would’ve been great if we had CGI’d them, but we wanted to do it in a tactile way. When you hear the word ‘tactile,’ you think that sounds nice and cozy. There was nothing cozy about these suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy. The first time I put it on I started to cry.”
When the actress complained about the costume being too heavy, her co-star, Tom Cruise, gave her a look and decided to give her a piece of advice.
Tom Cruise asked Emily Blunt to stop being a “p***y“
The actress then revealed that as she started whining about the costume, Tom Cruise stared at her. Seeing him she told the actor, “I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry. I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’” She then revealed what Tom Cruise had to say about the situation, “He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a p***y, OK?’” The actress was not expecting that reply and revealed that it instantly made her laugh.
The actress got injured while filming
While filming Edge of Tomorrow, the heavy costume was not the only issue that the actress faced. The Sicario star told podcast hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, that she also injured her ribs and collarbone during the shooting. She added that she still struggles because of it as the affected bones “are still dodgy.”
Edge of Tomorrow is available for streaming on Netflix.
