Taika Waititi says he won’t be involved in Thor 5
According to Business Insider, Marvel Studios are now looking forward to developing another Thor movie but this time without Taika Waititi. During a press event for his upcoming movie Next Goal Wins, Waititi spoke to Business Insider and was asked about the development of the new Thor movie and his involvement in it to which he said,
“I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate. I know that I won’t be involved. I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for.”
He further said that he imagines that another Thor movie would be a lot sooner than his other project, noting that he loves Marvel, he loves working with them and Chris Hemsworth.
Taika Waititi added during the event,
“I would never feel like they are cheating on me. We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that. I’d still get back into bed with them one day.”
Back in July of last year, the director-actor had mentioned that he would do another Thor movie only if Chris Hemsworth returned as the title character. Hemsworth had shared with EW that he did not want to be playing Thor for a very long time, so Marvel fans started rolling their eyes.

Talking about his Star Wars movie, the director shared with Total Film last year,
“Look, I think for the ‘Star Wars’ universe to expand, it has to expand. I don’t think that I’m any use in the ‘Star Wars’ universe making a film where everyone’s like, ‘Oh great, well that’s the blueprint for the Millennium Falcon, ah that’s Chewbacca’s grandmother.’”
