That 90s Show: Tommy Chong Returning as Leo in That ’70s Show Spinoff
That 70s show star Tommy Chong will reprise his role as Leo for the fan-favorite Netflix’s spinoff, That 90s Show, which will be premiering soon.
Chong also revealed that he would return for the spinoff series, appearing on The Dave Mark Show. “They never gave me any instructions, so I don’t know if I’m supposed to be talking about it or not,” he said. “I really don’t give a shit to tell you the truth. That’s what I’m known for…I’m back as Leo.”
Chong is arguably best known as one half of the comedy duo, Chong and Cheech, with Cheech Marin. However, the actor is also well-known for owner of the Foto Hut, his role as Leo, an aging hippie, and also the owner of The Foto Hut, on That ’70s Show on Fox which he portrayed for five long seasons in total.
Chong’s Character Disappeared During 5th and 6th Seasons
While Chong made his initial appearance as Leo in the season, his character went on to disappear during the fifth and sixth seasons, as Chong served a brief jail sentence in life. However, he returned as a regular on the series for the last two seasons of That ’70s Show.
The cast for The 90s Show:
Mila Kunis (who plays Jackie Burkhart), Ashton Kutcher (plays Michael Kelso), Donna Pinciotti’s Laura Prepon, Eric Forman’s Topher Grace and Wilmer Valderrama (who plays Fez) will return to the new show. They will be joining former co-stars Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith (Kitty and Red), who are regulars on the series and also serve as executive producers on “That ’90s Show.”
Danny Masterson, who played the role of Steven Hyde, will not be returning for the show as the actor has been ordered to stand trial for three rape charges in LA, California.
What will the That 90s Show spin-off revolve around?
While the spinoff show is going to feature various familiar faces, That ’90s Show be featuring a new ensemble cast for an all-new new generation of teens. Callie Haverda will star as Leia Forman, who is the daughter of Donna and Eric, who will spend the summer in Wisconsin with her grandparents, Red and Kitty. Stated as “smart like her mom, snarky like her dad,” Leia is ready for a new adventure and finds it “next door to her grandparents’ house in Point Place.”
That ’70s Show aired way back in 1998 and it ran for eight successful seasons on Fox, showcasing the misadventures of some teenagers in the ’70s. All seasons of That 70s Show were once available to stream on Netflix, but they exited it from the streaming platform two years back.
On the contrary, That ’90s Show doesn’t yet have a release date.
