Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most esteemed British actors in Hollywood. From playing Alan Turing in 2014’s biographical drama The Imitation Game which earned him an Academy Award nomination to portraying the Master of the Mystic Arts Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not many actors have a range as good as Cumberbatch.

The Patrick Melrose actor has proved his versatility as an actor again and again, and his upcoming project is going to stand as a testament to it once more. However, neither of these performances gave him a moment as wonderful as the one he had during one of his TV appearances and Marvel might get a little emotional to find out what it is.

Benedict Cumberbatch began his journey with roles in theatre plays and starred in at least a dozen classical plays. In fact, he was even nominated for the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance in Frankenstein.

Cumberbatch gained wider recognition when he landed the lead role in the BBC TV series Sherlock. This role even won him a Primetime Emmy Award. He also starred in several period dramas such as The Current War and Atonement. Not to mention the blockbuster franchise roles he has played over the years.

In his upcoming Netflix series Eric, the actor will play the role of Vincent, a puppeteer in 1980s New York. During a recent interview with TODAY, when asked if he had a reverence for the skill of puppetry after playing the role, he said that since Sesame Street used to be a huge deal when he was a child, he had grown to love the skill a lot more after playing this role. Further, he said:

One of my highlights as a public figure, whatever that means, is getting to do a bit on Sesame Street with the Count. I mean, you know, that was a wonderful moment in my life.

Cumberbatch’s adoration for puppetry can be understood from how passionately he speaks about the skill. However, this might mean that none of his other roles including the one in MCU could give him as much satisfaction as his appearance on the children’s TV show.
