American rapper Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, better known as Doja Cat, has attracted attention with her alien-inspired blue lips, shaved eyebrows, shaved head, and different makeup look. In front of millions of her Instagram followers, she was brave enough to shave her head and eyebrows during her Instagram live session. She is undoubtedly in the beauty hall of fame based on her hair transformations; however, she currently has a buzzcut hairstyle by Jared Henderson.
When fans of Doja Cat compared her current hairstyle to Britney Spears’ shaved head from 2007 during her particularly turbulent time, the Need To Know singer reportedly went into a rage. She claimed to have been offended by their comparisons as both singers had their own reasons for doing such brave things.
Doja Cat Slams Fans For Comparing Her Hairstyle With Britney Spears’ Shaved Head
In a Variety cover story interview, Doja Cat, 27, addressed the internet debate sparked when she shaved her eyebrows and head on Instagram live. She explained that social media users even compared her bold move to Britney Spears’ shaved head during her severe meltdown in 2007. According to Doja Cat, those comments were very disrespectful since Spears had a distressing time when she had to act like that, while the Need To Know singer had a completely different reason.
Doja Cat told Variety,
“It’s so incredibly disrespectful for people to be minimizing what Britney went through and make a joke out of something that was very serious and a big deal in her life.”
She added, discussing Britney Spears’ hard time,
“Every time I see a comment like that, I can’t compute what’s happening other than it’s just an awful thing.”
Doja Cat recalled and addressed the feeling behind her decision to shave her head and eyebrows,
“When I shaved my eyebrows off, and I shaved my head, I remember thinking, ‘Get this s— off of me,’ because I needed to change something.”
“I wasn’t working out and wasn’t really taking care of myself in the way that I wanted to. I was like, ‘I need to do something,’ so I just chopped it all off. And I could see the shape of my head. I could see my whole face. I can see my ears now that I don’t have a wig that’s glued to my forehead.”
She continued,
“I’ve been doing wigs for years. I haven’t gotten used to it. You wake up in the morning, and it’s in your mouth and in your eyes — it doesn’t feel good. It’s stressful if you want to work out, and then it slides off your head while you’re in a public gym. So now you have another responsibility other than taking care of your body. So, yeah, it’s the best choice I’ve ever made, and I’ve never felt more beautiful.”
The Kiss Me More singer shocked everyone when she announced her shaved head live on Instagram in the summer of 2022. She explained that she “was never supposed to have hair anyway” as the reason behind her decision. Despite feeling uncomfortable wearing wigs, she was frustrated with them as they started sliding off her head often, making it difficult for her to keep them on. Some backed her decision to shave her head and eyebrows, but others expressed concern.

Britney Spears stunned the world in 2007 when she shaved her own head in public, an incident that went down in pop culture history as the moment she had a harrowing mental breakdown. According to reports, more than 70 photographers captured Britney Spears shaving her head, and the images became famous almost overnight.
After splitting in November 2006, Britney Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline have certainly had their ups and downs. According to the hairdresser Tognozz, Spears had started shaving her own head as soon as she turned her back on her, despite her attempts to persuade her otherwise. Due to her mental breakdown, she shocked the entire world with the act she performed. The following year, in Feb 2008, her father, Jamie Spears, put her under a restrictive conservatorship, and she could not get it legally terminated until 2021. She became a free bird in November 2021 after releasing from her 13-year conservatorship.
