“That’s my thing, I don’t want to date”: Nicole Kidman Hesitated to Marry Lenny Kravitz After Her Failed Relationship With Tom Cruise
Being one of Hollywood’s most popular actors, Nicole Kidman’s dating life has never been out of the public’s radar. Apart from her current marriage, the one that was the most talked about was the one with Tom Cruise. Their relationship lasted a decade but eventually came to an end. This was a factor behind her reluctance to get settled with Lenny Kravitz. Kidman met him soon after she ended things with Cruise. Naturally coming out of that long a relationship, she just was not ready to fall into another one. The two got along very well but along with the actress, Kravitz had also the same feeling towards a commitment such as marriage. It was reported that the two did get engaged but they could not make it to marriage.
Did Nicole Kidman’s Marriage With Tom Cruise affect Her relationship with Lenny Kravitz?
Nicole Kidman met Lenny Kravitz about a year after her split with Tom Cruise. The two got close to each other gradually. It was reported that the two started getting serious and seemed to be falling in love with each other. However, at the time both of them were not ready for a big commitment. Therefore even though it felt like an engagement was lingering nearby. It happened in secret and it also broke in secret.
Also, it would make perfect sense for Kidman who and just been out of a decade-long relationship. According to the Cold Mountain star, she disliked dating and always looked for deeper connections. And therefore an engagement also meant a marriage for her. Talking with Vanity Fair, she said,
“I get engaged and I get married — that’s my thing”
This mindset had something to do with her decision to not pursue further commitment with Kravitz. However, in between, Kidman ended up striking up a very friendly relationship with Kravitz’s daughter Zoe Kravitz. Since then the two have only had nice things to say about each other. Moreover, she split with Lenny Kravitz on amicable terms. There had been no bad blood between the two.
Why Did She Divorce Tom Cruise?
Nicole Kidman met her ex-husband Tom Cruise while shooting Days of Thunder in 1990. It did not take them long to get romantic with each other. And less than a year later the two tied the knot with each other. However, after about a decade-long marriage, issues surfaced between them. After Cruise got into Scientology (a cult-like organization with a set of beliefs) their relationship came to an end. In 2001, the Top Gun actor was the one who reportedly filed for divorce under “irreconcilable differences”. The pair adopted two children during their marriage. Kidman also went through a miscarriage while she was with Cruise.
Currently, she is married to Keith Urban while Cruise is not with anyone at the moment.
