Seems like Marvel fans are gradually losing interest in watching The Marvels as it has historically dropped by 79% whereas The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has been exciting viewers since its opening day.

The Marvels after finally arriving on the screens created history by terribly making the biggest second-weekend drop in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, if we look at The Hunger Games Prequel it performed quite well and made $99 million worldwide with a budget of $100 million which is undeniably interesting as the film isn’t far away from crossing its budget.

The Hunger Games Prequel’s Opening Was Excellent Compared To The Marvels

Marvel fans eagerly anticipated Brie Larson‘s The Marvels, and when finally the movie hit theatres it led the Marvel Cinematic Universe toward the worst by failing to perform well in the second weekend and facing audience fatigue. Whereas The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes which has recently been released makes an impressive opening of $99 million over a budget of $100 million. The Marvels is facing criticism over the backstory and the villain’s underdeveloped and might even lose on making $100 domestically.

The 2012 Hunger Games movie began the surge of young adult fiction fans and since then it has been growing. Now after eight years, the prequel has finally arrived which is set 64 years prior when Jennifer Lawrence’s resilient  Katniss Everdeen blessed the games with her presence. The movie is all set to cross its budget and according to  David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research (via Variety):

“This is a very good opening for an action-adventure prequel. On average, prequels start with approximately half of the previous film’s opening, and this weekend’s figure is close to that.”

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes stars Rachel Zegler as Lucy, Tom Blyth as Snow, and other talented actors who contributed to the adaptation of the teen dystopian book series by Suzzane Collins. The movie focuses on Snow who later becomes a villainous president and his involvement in the 10th Hunger Games. Snow was assigned as the mentor of a folksinger from District 12, Lucy Baird.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Excites Fans

The prequel has been released with an impressive opening, even though not as much as the previous movies did whose budget was also more than The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a standalone film in the $3 million Hunger Games franchise. The film will showcase Snow being extremely anxious when he gets paired with the female tribute from District 12, the poorest of Panem’s districts after all the hardships he went through and the studies he did.

Fans have been excited after witnessing the opening that this prequel made and expressed the thrill via comments on a post shared on X (earlier Twitter):

While the movie is filled with thrill, stronger performances, and intensity, it also revolves around Snow and Lucy’s relationship which grows wiser after arriving at District 12 and racing against time to eventually disclose who’s a songbird and who’s a snake.
