The actress attended Yale University, after which she transitioned into picking more mature characters to portray on-screen and had managed to set up a loyal fan base for her.
Jodie Foster made her directorial debut in 1991 with Little Man Tate and has been directing movies since. She has also mentored young actors over the years. In a recent interview, she revealed her opinion on working with Gen Z along with how meeting The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey was quite fun.
Jodie Foster says working with Gen Z is ‘really annoying’
In a recent interview with The Guardian, actress-filmmaker Jodie Foster talked bout her thoughts on working with Gen Z. She went on to explain,
“They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m going to come in at 10:30 a.m.’ Or like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they’re like, ‘Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?’”
The actress-filmmaker added that she, however, does enjoy helping other artists navigate the initial yet complex period of their career. She said,
“They need to learn how to relax, how to not think about it so much, how to come up with something that’s theirs. I can help them find that, which is so much more fun that being, with all the pressure behind it, the protagonist of the story.”
Jodie Foster will be starring in season four of True Detective: Night Country, which will premiere on January 14th.

“The organizers are very proud of themselves because they’ve got every ethnicity and I’m like yeah, but all these attendees are still wearing heels and eyelashes. There are other ways of being a woman and it’s really important for people to see that. And Bella, who gave the best speech was wearing the most perfect suit, beautifully tailored, and a middle parting and no makeup.”
The filmmaker noted that she does a lot of reaching out to young actresses, as she feels compelled because she understands how hard it gets in the industry. Jodie Foster lastly added during the conversation that she would say that she did the best she could for her generation. The actress who started her career at a very young age mentioned that at the time she was very busy understanding where she fit in and where she wanted to be in terms of feminism.
