Bill Murray revealed an odd turn of events. He revealed in an interview that if he had been a little more careful with the name game, he could have given this film a hard pass. Murray thought Joel Coen, one of the famous Coen brothers, had written the screenplay. It turned out to be Joel Cohen; there is no connection; the first names are just a bizarre coincidence.

Murray stated, “I was exhausted, soaked with sweat, and the lines got worse and worse. And I said, ‘Okay, you better show me the whole rest of the movie, so we can see what we’re dealing with.” Therefore he sat down to watch the whole thing and then started asking, “Who the hell cut this thing? Who did this? What the f*** was Coen thinking?’” And then they explained to Murray that it wasn’t written by Joel Coen, instead it was written by Joel Cohen.

Murray revealed further, saying that he was such an admirer of the Coens’ comedic timing that for him, simply seeing their names on a script was like winning the lottery. What a funny thing to do. He has admitted that he disliked being a part of the movie.

Unfortunately, this pre-recorded dialogue limited Murray’s potential to shine. Therefore, it is not surprising that an actor like Murray would detest appearing in that film.
