The Marvels Finally Crosses $200M after Intense Box Office Struggle
After failing to excite Marvel enthusiasts, Brie Larson’s The Marvels has finally crossed $200 million as it reaches its end. Even though it has crossed this amount, the film has been the biggest box-office disappointment in the history of the MCU.
While other movies with lower budgets than The Marvels are generating enough buzz among fans, Larson’s project failed to entertain the viewers and received immense backlash over its complicated storyline. The Marvels had a budget of $220 million including an extra $100 million on marketing.
Brie Larson’s The Marvels Crosses $200 Million Globally
Seems like Brie Larson‘s era might end as fans did not enjoy The Marvels starring Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau alongside Larson’s Captain Marvel. Finally, after crawling since its release, the movie has crossed $200 million at the global box office by reaching the end.
However, this won’t do any wonders for The Marvels as it had a marvelous budget of $220 million and an extra $100 million on marketing which means the movie will still suffer loss. Even fans have stepped back from expressing their passion and Marvel has found its worst box office disappointment ever in its history. A post shared on X (earlier Twitter) by The Hollywood Handle is quite evident how fans have received The Marvels:
The movie was bad on almost every level: Bad fights, bad villain, bad generic plot & dialogues, mid acting, a soulless, creatively bankrupt movie, that feels like a generic cold bic mac produced in an assembly line

However, what many praised was Iman Vellani’s performance in the movie as she rose to stardom from the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. In Larson’s The Marvels, Vellani’s character is seen looking forward to building her own team and what makes it more intriguing is that she might not consider Captain Marvel to join forces with her.
Marvel fans have shared their desire to witness Ms. Marvel more in the MCU which might bring the superhero world on track after all the criticism it has been receiving lately.

Well according to fans, The Marvels failed due to many reasons: the storyline was complicated to understand, the villain was underdeveloped, Larson’s Captain Marvel was less energetic, and many others.
But according to Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, the movie failed because it didn’t have enough executives. According to NBC News, Iger said:
“There wasn’t as much supervision on the set, so to speak, where we have executives [that are] really looking over what’s being done day after day after day…I would say, right now, my No. 1 priority is to help the studio turn around creatively.”
The superhero movies have indeed suffered this year a lot leading Marvel to meet extreme backlash and troubles. According to The New York Times, Bob Iger would “definitely” back off as CEO once his contract is up in 2026.
