The condition of Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena’s troubled paradise continues to deteriorate as they continue to present their sides of the story. Samuels and Mena met during the filming of the VH1 reality TV show Scared Famous in 2017. They started dating shortly after and eventually got engaged in December 2018.
Marriage followed soon after. They became parents to a daughter and a son in 2020 and 2021, respectively. However, Mena filed for divorce in the same month as their announcement that they were going to become parents for a second time. Their divorce was officially finalized in 2022, and they have not stopped feuding since.
Safaree Samuels Posted a Video in Which He Alleged That He Was Assaulted by Erika Mena
Safaree Samuels is a rapper and reality TV actor. He is the only cast member of the Love & Hip-Hop reality TV series to have appeared in all 4 installments of the show. On the other hand, Erica Mena is a model and actress who has appeared in the music videos of many artists and several reality TV shows.
The back-and-forth between these artists has been showing no signs of coming to an end. However, things have taken a new direction with Samuels posting a story time YouTube video titled THE TRUTH ABOUT BEING A DEADBEAT | MY TRUTH REVEALED, which includes clips of his ex-wife exhibiting abusive behavior.
The footage at the beginning of the video seems to be from their home camera, and Mena can be seen shoving him in the first clip. The next clip shows her banging on a glass door. Samuels claimed that he wants to tell the truth now because staying quiet is not helping his case. He also discussed getting a restraining order against Mena, but explained that it might not be possible because he was at his son’s birthday recently, and his ex-wife was present there.
Further, he claimed that Mena sent an explicit picture of him to his mother and sister to lead them to believe that were still in an intimate relationship. He clarified that it was definitely not the case. The former Hoodstars hype man also claimed that he was not a “deadbeat father” like his ex-wife had claimed, when reports of him requesting to lower his child support payments surfaced.
Erica Mena Clapped Back at Safaree Samuels
Mena and Samuels had agreed to co-parent their kids, Safire Majesty, 4, and Legend Brian, 3, when they got divorced after less than two years of marriage. It has been almost two years since they got officially divorced, but their struggles seem to be never-ending.
In a court report obtained by In Touch, Samuels filed a petition in Georgia in 2023 and pleaded with the judge to lower his child support payments. At the time of their divorce, the K. Michelle: My Life actor had agreed to pay $4,305 per month in child support.
However, in the petition, he claimed that cannot pay the same amount anymore because his earnings are no longer $61,157 per month. He even alleged that it was due to his ex-wife’s disparaging comments that he was no longer earning as much as he did before. Further, he demanded that Mena cover his legal fees.
The Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami actress responded to these claims in a now-deleted Instagram post (via theneighborhoodtalk). She showed the picture of a calendar marked in yellow and orange, suggesting that Samuels had only met his children a total of 16 days in this year so far. She also claimed that he skips his kids’ birthdays and Christmas intentionally.
