Currently, Robert Pattinson has received praise for his interpretation of his ‘Batman’ character in his last film. However, the actor claimed that while there were some haters who objected to his initial casting as the Caped Crusader, they were nothing compared to the response he received when he was first cast in Twilight.

The 36-year-old actor is a strong believer in that, which has allowed him to appear in some of the greatest films in history. Pattinson has played a wide range of roles, but that does not necessarily mean that he has taken advantage of all of his professional opportunities.

It is true that he has built up a sizable fan base over the course of his lengthy acting career. Having said that, Robert Pattinson has encountered a lot of crazy or over-excited fans as well, particularly during the Twilight era.

Robert Pattinson And His Over-Excited Fans

The majority of Twilight fans are older teens, which, sometimes, makes them act really bizarre. A distinct fandom for Twilight has existed from the start, and it is intense in a way that it wasn’t before.

On The Graham Norton Show last year, Robert Pattinson discussed how his over-excited fans used to show their love for him. The actor occasionally wonders what these large groups of people do all day. One of Pattinson’s most peculiar fan interactions is when they just start screaming whenever he attends any premiere or show.

The Tenet actor then offered a rough idea: if his fans were imprisoned in a dungeon with nothing to do, they would eventually just “scream“. However, he even thought, at that very moment, that they might reject him outright for his bizarre sketch of an idea about them locked up in some prison.

Then, he jokingly said, “They didn’t let me do it.”

Although most people are familiar with Pattinson as the lead in the Twilight series, he also worked with intriguing directors on challenging films like The Lighthouse, High Life, and The Lost City of Z.

And Matt Reeves, who co-wrote The Batman with Christopher Nolan, was inspired to write the script for the new DC adaptation with The Lighthouse actor in mind for the lead role. Reeves was impressed by his performance in the 2017 thriller, Good Time.

He Once Thought The Twilight Fandom Was Very Odd

Robert Pattinson has praised the fervor with which his Twilight fans support the series. But there have also been times when The Batman star felt they had gone too far. This has occasionally led to Pattinson employing creative strategies to oust his followers. Like when he broke a fan’s fantasy of him by taking her out to dinner.

However, one of the oddest facets of his fan base was probably the age range. The Oscar-nominee noted that not all Twilight fans were teenagers in an interview with Interview magazine (reported by Independent).

One of Pattinson’s fan interactions may be the one he unintentionally started. The Lighthouse actor once engaged in lighthearted banter with a fan while signing autographs for them. The fan, however, took Pattinson’s outrageous request seriously.

Pattinson once recalled,

“It was after a period of signing 500 signatures, and one of [the fans] just came up. You kind of get 10 seconds with each person and you never really say anything, and I kind of got bored of saying, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ And she said, in her 10 seconds, ‘What can I do to get your attention?’ I was like, ‘Um, just take your clothes off.’”

When Pattinson found out that the fan had started stripping during the performance, he was shocked. As a result, the actor had serious second thoughts about the joke.
