The Duchess of Sussex has been the target of many tabloids and media in general since her arrival in the British royal family. She has suffered her fair share of discrimination by the public and media. Various royal experts and commentators have criticized Meghan Markle and accused her of trying to ruin the image of the British royal family.
Regarding their multi-year deal made with Netflix in 2021 and the upcoming docuseries, a royal expert Sarah Vine criticized her saying that it was cruel and disrespectful of Prince Harry and Markle to be sharing real inside footage of the royal family. Similarly, Markle’s interview with The Cut in August this year also faced tons of backlash. One of them included royal commentator Dan Wootton, accused the Duchess of Sussex of being on a mission to destroy the royal family image.
Meghan Markle’s controversial The Cut Interview
The Duchess of Sussex sat down for the interview with the New York Magazine offshoot The Cut to promote her Spotify podcast ‘Archetypes’. However, some of her comments in relation to the royal family were considered snarky and attracted a lot of controversies. During the interview, Meghan Markle delved into the subject of her new life with Prince Harry and their children in Montecito.
She also thrillingly revealed that she was getting her own Instagram account. According to the mother of two, her engagement with Prince Harry and becoming a part of the royal family prevented her from running a social media account. She shared,
“It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life”
Shortly after the birth of their first child Archie, the couple decided to step down from their royal duties. And since then they have decided on supporting themselves financially without using any of the royal assistance. Markle and Prince Harry later took down their Instagram handle afterward. The mother of Archie also came out with the decision that she would not join Instagram again due to the constant bullying online.
Royal Commentator Criticizes the Duchess of Sussex
It is not surprising for the Duchess of Sussex to get criticisms as she receives them frequently from royal experts and the media equally. Following the controversial, The Cut interview, a royal commentator named Dan Wootton called out Markle accusing her of trying to damage the royal family’s image. Wootton wrote via The Daily Mail,
“Because it’s now abundantly clear to anyone that Meghan Markle appears to have no grip on reality”
Then he added ” [Markle] and is on a mission to take down the Royal Family, no matter the cost”
Further, he claimed that the dubious truth bombs from the Duchess of Sussex were all meant to give the highest damage to the British Royals. And according to Wootton the grenades thrown against the royal family by Markle were always questionable. The royal commentator went on to claim that both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had lost respect for the royal family.
