Swifties have been speculating about Taylor Swift’s involvement in Henry Cavill’s upcoming film Argylle. The rumors claimed that the iconic pop star was credited under the pseudonym Elly Conway. However, the director has finally addressed the rumors and disclosed the real connection of the singer with his movie.
To all the Swifties who believed that our globally renowned singer and billionaire Taylor Swift is Elly Conway, the reality is that the You Belong With Me singer has nothing to do with the manuscript of the book. But there is indeed one revelation by Matthew Vaughn related to Taylor Swift, who apparently inspired his family to adopt the Scottish Fold cat.
Matthew Vaughn Talks About Taylor Swift Inspiring His Family Amid Argylle Rumors
Since Matthew Vaughn‘s upcoming film featuring a star-studded cast was announced, it has always found a way to earn attention. The film is titled Argylle and is adapted from a book of the same name, pseudonymously written by an author known as Elly Conway. Following the speculation about who the real author is, Swifties were quick to associate their mother with the book.

The internet was flooded with rumors claiming that Taylor Swift is Elly Conway because she has been often seen wearing Argyle sweaters, owns a Scottish Fold cat named Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, and most astonishingly, has her red hair in All Too Well short film. However, the director has finally shut down the rumors and revealed that even his daughters couldn’t resist believing them. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he said:
“I’m looking at her going, ‘What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book? She didn’t write the book!’ And I was laughing because I was like, ‘It’s not true! She didn’t write the book!’ But my daughter was convinced of it.”
Explaining how his daughter fell for the wrong claims about the Look What You Made Me Do star and the book, he also shared that the one thing Taylor Swift persuaded his family was related to well, cats! He added:
“I got home one day, it was Christmas, and I was like, ‘What the fuck is that noise?’ And I’m running around the house and I hear a noise, and the kids had seen a Taylor Swift documentary and there was a Scottish Fold in that, and they’d persuaded my wife, Claudia [Schiffer], to get them the kitten for Christmas. It was bought without my permission and hidden from me.”
Taylor Swift is a cat mom and her posts often refer to them as her daughters, which is obvious evidence of the love she has for her pets. The Love Story hitmaker recently released her Eras Tour concert film and broke numerous records including some related to the superhero movies of Marvel. Swift previously revealed being obsessed with cats and going above and beyond to be involved in cat projects.
When Will Henry Cavill’s Argylle Come Out?
The spy thriller is almost here and is set for a release next month. Argylle features Henry Cavill as the titular spy alongside Dua Lipa‘s LaGrange, Bryce Dallas Howard who plays Elly Conway, John Cena as Wyatt, and other acclaimed actors. Fans are excited to witness the thrill as the film promises to depict how the line between the author’s fictional and real world begins to blur.
