“Thinking of all the kids who auditioned for this role”: Kim Kardashian’s Daughter North West Getting the Spotlight at Lion King: 30th Anniversary Upsets Many Fans
North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is making waves in the music industry. North landed a coveted role in the star-studded concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of Disney’s beloved classic, The Lion King in Los Angeles on Friday, May 24.
A star-studded concert came to celebrate 30 years of Disney’s The Lion King. The show featured famous actors like Jeremy Irons and Nathan Lane, along with amazing singers including Ernie Sabella, Bradley Gibson and Billy Eichner from Broadway musicals and other big music events.
But there was one performer getting a lot of attention – even more than the big stars! North West, who sang the song I Just Can’t Wait to Be King at the concert. The preteen dressed in a light yellow furry hoodie and zip-up sweater with matching shorts and furry boots, while playing Young Simba.
It’s a big deal for North’s music career, which is just starting to grow. However, some people are surprised that North was chosen to perform alongside such experienced singers and actors. They wonder why someone else didn’t get the chance instead.
Is it North West’s Talent or Just Family Ties?
Some fans think it’s unfair that North West got the chance to perform at a two-day live concert event. They believe other singers, with more experience or singing talent, should have been chosen instead. Social media users have expressed concern, with one fan tweeting, “Thinking of all the kids who can actually sing…”

It seems like they think North might have gotten the role because she’s famous, not because she’s the best singer for the job. However, the daughter of the Skims founder has been working on her music skills for a while, and there’s no doubt that she is indeed a singer!
While North is still young (born in 2013), she’s already taken steps into the music world. The 10-year-old first appeared in her dad’s music video for Only One in 2015.
