This Big Bang Theory Star Called His Character’s Ending “Beautiful” Despite Fan Backlash

Kunal Nayyar Defends Raj’s Ending In The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory captured the hearts of millions and ran for over a decade. Fans eagerly anticipated the show’s finale, but not everyone was satisfied with the way the characters’ storylines were wrapped up. One character who received criticism for their ending was Raj Koothrappali.
Throughout the show, Raj’s storylines were often relegated to B-plots, leaving some fans feeling disappointed with his outcome. However, the actor who portrayed Raj defended his character’s ending.
Despite not finding his life partner, he had no issue with how Raj’s story came to a close. He shared his views.
“I find it quite poignant that the one character that believed in true love so much was the one who didn’t, in the end, find it. It’s beautiful! It doesn’t have to be so formulaic, that’s what I loved about the show – it doesn’t have to be a certain way, you know?”

Nayyar also appreciated the fact that the show’s ending did not feel like a closed book, he explained.
“In the world of these characters, they wake up the next morning, and their life continues. So somewhere, these guys are living and having a great life and their adventures are continuing.”

“That’s why it was not some big bang ending you know? Like someone moves, and someone dies, or something like that. It was because we’re saying goodbye to the show, but in their lives, they’re continuing.”
While the artist did not know what Raj was up to, he used the Hindi word “masti” to describe the character’s ongoing mischievousness. Nayyar was satisfied with the show’s ending and also shared that he felt a weight off his shoulder following co-star Jim Parsons’ exit announcement.

The cast and crew of The Big Bang Theory discussed Parsons’ decision to leave the show after 12 seasons in a new oral history.
According to the source, Johnny Galecki, who played Leonard Hofstadter, revealed that he and the rest of the cast were “blindsided” by the news and wished Parsons had discussed it with them beforehand.
However, Kunal Nayyar, who played Raj Koothrappali, had a different reaction. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders after hearing about Jim’s departure.
He explained, “It’s something I’ve only experienced once before,” Nayyar continued.
“I felt a giant weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I don’t mean this positively or negatively. I mean this in an absolutely honest way, that something within me was released. At that moment, I said goodbye.”
He also compared the moment to breaking up with the love of his life, saying that nothing was wrong, but it was just time to move on. He disclosed.
“Yeah, you know I often say for me, personally, ending Big Bang was like breaking up with the love of your life when you know nothing is wrong but it’s just time. That’s really what it felt like you know. I’m still processing what that entire journey was like. 279 episodes you know, I grew up on that show.”
The show had run for 279 episodes, and Nayyar had grown up on it. Despite feeling relieved, he acknowledged that he was still processing the entire journey.
