Phase 3 wrapped up the entire Infinity Saga of the MCU. But at the end of it, people were left wondering what will be the next direction of the MCU. After all, two of the main founding Avengers died, and many others left. But with Spider-Man: Far From Home people could see what MCU could be thinking about doing next, especially with Marvel’s crown jewel Spider-Man. But we bet no one thought that MCU could be thinking of replacing Spider-Man.

Tom Holland To Be Replaced As Spider-Man

The conclusion of Far From Home saw Peter Parker’s secret identity being revealed to the world. If that was not enough to leave fans wondering about what will happen next with the character, then the public fight between Sony and Disney regarding the rights to the character certainly did. Although that did come to a peaceful agreement, courtesy of Tom Holland himself. So now the character will be with MCU for atleast two or three more movies.
But what after those three movies are over? Will Disney sit for another tense round of negotiations with Sony regarding the character? What if it doesn’t pan out? So Marvel has a contingency plan in place. Or rather it’s almost certain to happen since Marvel likes to continue the legacy of characters. So just like Sam Wilson is the next Captain America and Monica Rambeau will be the next Captain Marvel, here Miles Morales will be the next Spider-Man. This was said by industry insider DanielRPK. He tweeted that:

“Love where the MCU is headed diversity wise. We had an all white 6 Avengers at first but down the line we’ll get a black Captain America (Sam), Spider-Man (Miles) and Captain Marvel (Monica). Asian with Shang-Chi and Sersi and Muslim with Ms. Marvel and Blade.”

Why Miles Morales As Next Spider-Man

For now it’s not clear what kind of role Miles will play in the MCU. But it does seem to be the right decision because Miles Morales right now is a popular character. After all, Into the Spider-Verse proved to be very successful. So while we all wait for Miles in the MCU, we can certainly keep ourselves busy with the sequel of Into the Spider-Verse which is releasing in 2022. Also, if you are a Tom Holland Spidey fan then there’s still the third Spidey movie releasing in July 2021 to look forward to.
