“This franchise is headed in the wrong direction”: Sylvester Stallone Receives Nightmare Reviews For His $100 Million Worth Action Sequel ‘Expend4bles’
Sylvester Stallone is renowned for playing the hero in every one of his films. His characters never give up, no matter how challenging things become. He has served as the face of the Rocky and Rambo franchises for more than three decades. In 1976, Stallone made his first significant breakthrough with the incredible film Rocky. In the sports action drama he also wrote, he received high appreciation for playing Rocky Balboa.
Along with these great movies, he also appeared in Cliffhanger, The Expendables, Death Race, and Escape Plan. He is undoubtedly one of the top stars in the entertainment industry with a mind-blowing net worth of $400 million. Despite all of his success, Expend4bles received some pretty negative reviews from critics.
The fourth installment in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables franchise promises more action
The Expendables franchise has long been an integral part of the world of action-packed entertainment, with legendary actors like Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham leading the charge. We last saw Stallone and his band of strong mercenaries in The Expendables franchise about ten years ago. In Expend4bles, they’re back and better than ever. More action, more explosions, and the addition of some new characters are all promised in this fourth installment of the franchise. We’ll follow Barney Ross and his team once more as they battle a legendary arms dealer with a huge private army.
Barney, Lee, Gunner, and Toll are all back in their familiar roles, prepared for another risky and action-packed mission. There have been several delays for The Expendables 4, especially after the PG-13-rated Expendables 3 received a lackluster response in 2014. With an R rating, it’s returning to its roots and promises the furious action fans have been yearning for. However advance screenings of the $100 million worth action sequel, have resulted in not-so-good responses so far.
Sylvester Stallone’s Expend4bles receives early nightmarish reviews
The latest installment, Expend4bles, appears to have disappointed the critics. The movie falls short of its predecessors’ charm despite the appearance of familiar faces like Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture along with Sylvester Stallone as well as the inclusion of new talent like Megan Fox, Curtis Jackson, and Andy Garcia.
Expend4bles, which is directed by former stuntman Scott Waugh, takes on a high-stakes mission involving a terrorist group carrying nuclear warheads. Large-scale action scenes and thrilling battles were anticipated by fans, but early reviews indicate that the movie falls far short of their hopes. Its visuals have been compared to an out-of-date direct-to-video film by CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg, who calls it an “embarrassment for all involved” and uses strong language.
Nick from Bitesize Breakdown agrees, saying, “Expend4bles loses everything that was enjoyable about the series to create its weakest entry yet.” He continues by adding “The lack of star power and humor shows that this franchise is headed in the wrong direction.” It’s disheartening to see Expend4bles taking so harsh criticism in a genre famed for its heart-pounding action and beloved characters.
The movie Expend4bles will start playing in theaters on September 22, 2023.
