The writer shared a thread on X (earlier Twitter) explaining the actions of Captain Carter after ending World War II, which resulted in Hope becoming Wasp earlier than the usual Marvel timeline. Since Cater becomes the leader, the feminist movement is initiated soon after WW2, gaining strength quickly.
Since Captain Carter — a woman — ended WW2, the feminist movement occurred immediately after the war. This had a ripple effect across society leading to more female SHIELD agents, heroes, & women in positions of authority. (Check out the Strike Team at min 12)

This change results in Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne taking on the responsibilities. Bradley explained that the“ripple effect” across society resulted in the absence of Peggy Carter who would have founded SHIELD. However, as there are majority of women in authority, Hope became Wasp earlier than it would have been.

Season 2 consists of a total of nine episodes, the remaining three will air gradually. However, fans have compared an episode of season 2 with another animated series titled Futurama. The series took a distinctive take on stories with a blend of humor, which according to some fans What If…? season 2 failed at. While exploring the alternate realities, the stories lacked humor which generally becomes a major reason for animated series to develop a fanbase.
