The writer shared a thread on X (earlier Twitter) explaining the actions of Captain Carter after ending World War II, which resulted in Hope becoming Wasp earlier than the usual Marvel timeline. Since Cater becomes the leader, the feminist movement is initiated soon after WW2, gaining strength quickly.

This change results in Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne taking on the responsibilities. Bradley explained that the“ripple effect” across society resulted in the absence of Peggy Carter who would have founded SHIELD. However, as there are majority of women in authority, Hope became Wasp earlier than it would have been.

The series took a distinctive take on stories with a blend of humor, which according to some fans What If…? season 2 failed at. While exploring the alternate realities, the stories lacked humor which generally becomes a major reason for animated series to develop a fanbase.
