- Timothée Chalamet set to tackle another real-life role.
- A24 announces Josh Safdie's 'Marty Supreme' starring the actor.
- The character has the potential to earn Chalamet an Academy Award.
Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet, known for his amazing acting and bold roles, is all set to surprise everyone with his latest project, Marty Supreme. Not only is he starring in the film, but he’s also producing the upcoming biopic with Josh Safdie and A24.
The movie is inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman, and Chalamet will reportedly play the titular role. This character is a change for the actor, who recently starred in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two.
In the film, he played Paul Atreides, the exiled Duke of House Atreides. Now, with Marty Supreme, Timmy is following up on the success of his two underrated films.
Timothée Chalamet Set to Excel in True-Life Role
Marty Supreme is written by Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, who are also producing the film with Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas. This project reunites Safdie with A24 – the studio that distributed his previous films Uncut Gems and Good Time. Check out the post below:

Marty Supreme isn’t Timothée Chalamet‘s first time playing real-life stories. The actor has already garnered acclaim for his nuanced performances in two films based on true stories. In 2019, he gave a strong performance as Hal (the son of current king Henry IV) in The King. The next year, he played a young man dealing with addiction in Beautiful Boy, based on the true story of David and Nic Sheff.
Safdie’s upcoming flick continues the trend for Chalamet. Marty Reisman, who passed away in 2012, was a legendary table tennis player known as the ‘Wizard of Table Tennis.’ He played for more than fifty years, winning 22 big ping pong titles from 1946 to 2002 and earning five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships.
Recently, the 28-year-old completed filming for James Mangold’s movie A Complete Unknown, where he plays a young Bob Dylan (another real-life figure). It’s a biopic about the musician’s life.
Timothée Chalamet Has Award-Worthy Potential with Marty Supreme
Timothée Chalamet’s interest in biopics might be a smart choice for an Oscar. The Academy Awards often favor actors who bring authenticity and depth to iconic characters. When actors play real people with deep feelings and complex lives, it lets them show how good they are at acting with different emotions.
And it often appeals to awards voters. In 2018, Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Call Me By Your Name. With Marty Supreme, he might have a good chance of winning it.
