Who would deny a role in a billion-dollar franchise like Harry Potter? Well, Kate Winslet turned out to be the one. The actress was offered a significant role in the movie but her refusal made the director cast another talented actress. The Labor Day star was the first choice of the director and was offered the role of Helena Ravenclaw also regarded as Revenclaw Ghost. Even though this was a small role offered to Winslet it had a significant impact on the storyline. One of Kate Winslet’s agents declined the role on behalf of her before she knew that such an offer reached her.

As the Revolutionary Road actress refused to play Revenclaw Ghost, Kelly McDonald was cast as Helena Ravenclaw in the franchise. However, actors often face scheduling conflicts which becomes a major reason to ignore a promising role and they are left being replaced by another worthy actor. Kate Winslet’s Hollywood career has been highly triumphant and critically acclaimed known for slaying a wide range of challenging roles in movies. Celebrities rarely miss out on opportunities that could change their fate and this could have happened with Leonardo DiCaprio if Kate Winslet hadn’t influenced him to be a part of Titanic. The Holiday actress has played an important part in steering DiCaprio to the classic hit. Winslet was geared up for the James Cameron movie, unlike DiCaprio and the Inception star wasn’t sure if he would give a heads-up for Titanic, but when Winslet eavesdropped that DiCaprio was in the running for the role, the actress couldn’t resist convincing DiCaprio. Winslet disclosed this while giving an interview to Hollywood.

Winslet’s part in getting DiCaprio onboard was even more than James Cameron’s The Titanic creator. In the same interview DiCaprio revealed that even after having abundant conversations with Cameron, it was Winslet at the end of the day who made the Shutter Island star sign for Titanic. Kate Winslet’s work and the complex character she played of Rose in the movie is often regarded as a standout and eventually made her a leading actress in Hollywood and also secured her first Oscar nominations.
